As somebody who wrote a book about ‘orgasms’ I am NOT someone that you could easily call a prude! Just check out this book. I have nothing against intercourse; I am actually quite partial to it.

But, as a father of a 12-year old daughter I am not happy to have a TV commercial, on Cable News Channels like CNN, MSNBC & CNBC, that runs during the DAY that openly mentions INTERCOURSE. That is not right. How is that acceptable and permissible in a country that does not permit any nudity on broadcast TV. So no nudity, even at 11pm, BUT it is OK to say ‘intercourse’ at 8:12am in the morning. I am not amused or pleased.

The ‘curved below the belt‘ commercial was not offensive. Just a tad funny.

But, this commercial is BELOW THE BELT.

Do YOU agree?

Did The President Of ‘SpaceX’ Get The Job Because Of Her Befitting Name — ‘Shotwell’?

by Anura Guruge

Never heard of her until earlier today. I went to have a quick look at CNBC and she was being interviewed. See below:

I like Elon Musk and SpaceX and as such stopped for a second to listen. She was impressive. I had not realized that SpaceX had a female President. Then I saw her name. Wow. ‘Shotwell’. What a great name for somebody heading a rocket company. You sure hope they shot well.

Given my fascination with names I had to look it up. Alas it is not a name that was given to archers. Shame that. They think it comes from a place name.

Never mind. Great name for the President of SpaceX. I hope she continues to shoot those rockets well

“If You Are Curved Below The Belt” Commercial On TV — WTF?

Endo Pharmaceutical” print ads. Click to ENLARGE.

I happened to be quite contentedly watching CNBC around 9:50am this morning (with the stock market again up), brushing my teeth, when this commercial came on.

I am NOT easily shocked, but I thought this was below the belt. Ouch!

Wow.

Nope. Don’t have it — or NOT as yet. But given how I am falling apart this may also be in my future — though I hope not. I have enough problems, thank you.

Yes, I have heard of it and KNEW at once what the commercial was going to be when I saw “curved below the belt“.

When are we going to draw the line. The ED ads were bad enough. But, now this.

Very clever to have it on CNBC. Perfect demographics. And yes, it is good to get the word out that there is treatment for this condition.

It is just a tad jarring to see IT on TV.

But, c’est la vie. Next time I will be ready and will not be shocked.

Does “Ken Fisher” Of “Fisher Investments” Have Any Idea Of His Resemblance To “Anthony Weiner”?

by Anura Guruge

I had CNBC on this morning in our bedroom while I was doing my post-run ablutions. I came out, brushing my teeth and did a DOUBLE TAKE and these thoughts flashed through my mind: “why is Anthony Weiner on TV, I thought he was in prison … why is Anthony Weiner doing a commercial? …. why would anybody be stupid enough to hire Anthony Weiner to do a commercial“.

Then I realized that it wasn’t actually Weiner.

Took me a second to work out that this must be the owner of Fisher Investments.

Then I felt BAD. Doesn’t he realize that he can be mistaken for Weiner. Hasn’t anybody told him that. Kind of spoils the whole commercial. Once the Weiner thought crosses your mind that commercial is toast.

Am I the ONLY one who sees this similarity — and I am acutely aware, from the hits I get here, that I saw a similarity between Frank Fritz Of ‘American Pickers’ and another jailbird.

Never mind. Ken Fisher is probably a billionaire and it doesn’t matter who he gets mistaken with.

Today, May 20, Is “National Streaming Day” 2016 (Per Roku).

by Anura Guruge

Since I am a HUGE fan of Roku I am HAPPY to celebrate “National Streaming Day 2016” with them and you.

If nothing else I plan to watch Day 2 highlights of the England vs. Sri Lanka 1st Test, from Headingley (Leeds), on “One Sports“, via my Roku tonight. I watched Day 1 highlights last night — thanks to Roku.

Did YOU know that ‘roku’ means six (6) in Japanese?

It was the founder’s sixth attempt! Cool. He was on CNBC this morning — which is how I heard about this.

DISH TV Without CNBC & MSNBC Will Be Pretty Useless To ME!

by Anura Guruge

I just happened to see this, on DISH (ironically), while watching MSNBC earlier this morning.

From what I see ‘Boston’ is not listed as an impacted market … BUT who knows.

Yes, we have all seen these DISH/DirecTV blackout threats.

But DISH without CNBC, in particular, will be useless to I. I wake up, each morning, to CNBC on my TV. I watch is for over an hour.

So I am going to stay on top of this. This could be a bummer.

CNBC’s morning lineup.

Notice … very white, mainly male.

cnbcsqk3333 cnbcsqk11q11a

cnbcsqk22222Yes, I ‘listen’ to CNBC (for about 70 minutes) each and every morning, without fail, and have done so for many a year.

I like to know what is happening, or going to happen, in the market — viz. stock futures, news, employment numbers, economic data — and CNBC is an ‘easy’ way to get that, though I also check ‘MarketWatch.com‘ on my pad while I ‘listen’ to CNBC. I stress ‘listen’ because I don’t really watch the TV screen. I can process the audio while I read other stuff on my pad, mainly the U.K. ‘Daily Mail‘, from cover to cover.

Yes, there are aspects of CNBC that I detest. Joe Kernen is an outright bigot and I used to like Rick Santelli before he became Mr. Tea Party.

But it has occurred to me of late that CNBC revels in being blatantly racist.

OK, you can see the lineup. The ONLY non-caucasian is Carl Quintanilla and I have noticed that they treat him very POORLY. I will get to that. Yes, they have one black guy who is invited to talk about tech — BUT notice he is NOT featured in the lineup. And then they have the EXCELLENT, Latino Michelle Caruso-Cabrera from New Hampshire.

They have very few black guests or guest hosts. Go check. They have a few Asians BUT I can’t recall them having an Asian guest hosts.

But, I come back to Carl Quintanilla and to a lesser extent David Faber (who has been with CNBC from the very start).

Carl Quintanilla is very smart, erudite, personable and competent. Ditto David Faber. The two of them are definitely smarter than Jim Cramer and Cramer knows that. But on ‘Squawk on the Street’ Carl Quintanilla is used as a FLUFFER, his role being that of throwing gentle puff-ball questions that Cramer tries to hit out of the park. Carl & David Faber get about 20% of the airtime, Cramer the rest. Not right. It should be the other way around. David and Carl are exceptionally bright, informed and cerebral. They can tell us much more relevant stuff than rambling Cramer.

How they treat Carl Quintanilla is NOT right. Carl deserves better.

A lead story on October 22, 2015 ‘martketwatch.com’. Click to access original.

I was surprised, if not outright shocked, to see this story in ‘MarketWatch‘.

No, no, I was not at surprised at ALL, at ALL, that Jim had got it wrong. Come on Jim has been a total joke for nearly a decade.

PLEASE tell me that you do not view him as anything more than an entertainer — a comedian at that. That has been his role at CNBC, ‘Mad Money‘ including, for close onto a decade. Nobody who is seriously into the market pays any blind bit of notice as to what Cramer says — other than maybe to do the exact OPPOSITE of what he recommends.

There was a time, over 10 years ago, when Cramer actually knew what he was talking about. He helped me make some money. I used to watch (or tape) ‘Mad Money’ every day and listen to him whenever I could. He got me into Caterpillar (CAT) c. 2003 and I then extrapolated that into Cummins. Yes, I made some decent money. Then I started to notice that Jim was getting things BADLY wrong with increasing regularity.

His advice, on air, not to buy MasterCard was the final straw for me. I haven’t listened to anything he has said since. And I am extremely THANKFUL. Jim could NOT beat a chimpanzee when it comes to picking stocks now. He has totally lost it. Read the article below.

And he rarely admits to getting it wrong.

So PLEASE treat Jim Cramer for what he is — a serious comedian.

DO NOT ENLARGE this image.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Janet Yellen and was totally supportive of her replacing Dear Ben as the Federal Reserve Chairperson. What is there not to like about her?

BUT after yesterday’s momentous decision by the Fed’s NOT to raise the Fed Interest Rate I just wish she had more testosterone in her system. What we saw yesterday is the, rightly, much vaunted trait of females not to be as aggressive, confrontational and ‘in your face’. BUT in this case that is really what we needed. We needed Janet to be a Margaret Thatcher or my Aunty Bandaranaike — strong female leaders that were willing to make hard decisions.

We need to get this interest rate fiasco out of the way!

To be honest it bothers me NOWT! As somebody with an incurable addiction to option trading I LOVE the market volatility. Large market swings make me smile all day — not that I am not smiling most of the time anyway. I just feel bad for those that just ride the market and watch helpless when their IRA goes down. I just heard on CNBC this morning, bamboo stake up his derrière, “I tell God what to think every morning”, Ken ‘pompous’ Langone, bemoan how the ‘zero’ interest rates are crippling retirees on a ‘fixed income’. I had to laugh. Typical of bloody Langone. Clueless. I am retired BUT I wish my income was ‘fixed’. SMILE. Never understood that expression. “Fixed Income”. If you are salaried aren’t you also on a ‘fixed income’? Well, what can I say?

This interest rate ‘fear’ is such a joke. 0.25% or even 1% Fed interest rates are NOT going to kill anyone. They will, as CNBC correctly points out, NORMALIZE matters — and the markets — and GET one unnecessary Ken Langone like gorilla ‘out of the room’.

So PLEASE Janet go get some shots. Lets raise this damn rate SOON — definitely before Christmas. PLEASE let us NOT go into 2016 with this hanging over the market.

I just do NOT know whether I could tolerate that much FUN!

Janet, I am sure your Health Insurance will cover the costs of the shots. If NOT I will, on behalf of the entire World, gladly pay for them.

critical error101

Deanna ‘upgraded’ from Windows 7 to Window 10 and it proved to be an unmitigated DISASTER! Windows 10 is absolutely riddled with SERIOUS — nay, CRITICAL — errors and it is slower than frozen molasses.

Basic things like the START menu stop working or sometimes JUST DISAPPEARS. Yes, the START MENU goes away. I found a fix for that on YouTube and that worked.

Then two days ago, about a week after we fixed the missing START menu problem, she started getting the above CRITICAL message. We spent many hours, to no avail, trying to fix that. I gave up. She, quite rightly, detests Windows 10. So I gave her the restore disk for her laptop and within about an hour, while we watched family TV, her ASUS laptop was back running Windows 7 — and everything is noticeably faster.

Check the Web. Windows 10 has serious problems. Lot of folks are doing what Deanna did. Reverting back to Windows 8 or Windows 7.

This is bad. It is a disaster. I, from day one, had a sneaking suspicion that we would start having issues like this with Satya Nadella. I don’t think he will last long BUT it looks like that he will drive MSFT even further into the ground before they boot him out.

I don’t understand WHY this is NOT getting reported in the financial media, e.g., CNBC and MarketWatch! Definitely looks like a coverup. Are they getting paid by Nadella to keep this under wraps. But, trust me, this is NOT good news for Windows 10. This debacle with further sully the MSFT brand and convince even more people to ditch PCs and go with Apple or Android.

So, YOU have been warned. Do your due diligence. Google. Yes, Google.
