George Pell Will Not Be The First Cardinal To Be Imprisoned; But He Will Be First For Sodomy.

Cardinals going to prison is nothing new.

During the Middle Ages various imperial powers, or in some instances disgruntled popes, would imprison cardinals that they took a dislike to — often to prevent them voting at conclaves.

Then during the last century we had political imprisonments — mainly by communist countries. One well know example was Chinese Cardinal Ignatius Kung who was imprisoned for over 30-years for dissent. He remained a cardinal throughout.

Then there was also Hungarian Cardinal József Mindszenty. He too spent 8-years in prison — yet again he remained a cardinal throughout.

But, things are different with the dirty old bugger, George Pell. What he has been convicted of is that of sodomizing a child!

He will be the first cardinal to be imprisoned for sodomy.

The mind boggles as to what kind of reception he will receive in an Australian prison. I doubt that Australian prisoners take too kindly to old men who sodomize kids.

He most likely will be forced to resign his cardinalate. He will be the 2nd to do so, after Theodore McCarrick, since 1927.

No cardinalate resignations for 90-years, then 2 in one-year!

Once Papabile Cardinal George Pell Reportedly Convicted Of Sex Abuse In Australia.

by Anura Guruge

As the NPR article points out there is an Australian court gag order preventing details of this HUGE case from being divulged at present.

But, it appears that he has been convicted — though he has already appealed it. Hence, the secrecy.

If the conviction holds this will be pivotal. This is NOT about cover-up. This is about actual, hands-on sexual abuse.

A cardinal.

Once a papabile (i.e., a pope contender).

Confidante of Pope Francis.

This will be HUGE.

Do Alton Central School Parents Care If The School Buys Its Heating Oil From A Convicted Sexual Harasser?

This, the morality of doing business with a known sexual harasser, already convicted once and again facing suit, was the burning, contentious issue at Tuesday’s, August 20, 2013, out-of-cycle, 4 to 6 (rather than 6 to 8) Alton Central School (ACS) Board Meeting.

Fred Fuller came in with the lowest bid and the Board, in general, always goes with the lowest bid unless they know of any detrimental factors.

Steve Miller, who I do recall has railed about this before, yet again, made a passionate plea for not doing business with this outfit. I definitely see where Steve is coming from (but 93% of the time, in marked contrast to many others) I do tend to see what Steve is getting at). Though we have 3 females on the Board, none of them was willing to side with Steve. I, during the second pubic input, even suggested that this issue, for the future, be put to the Alton voters in the form of a referendum (‘warrant article’ as I was informed by Superintendent, Mr. Lander).

But, yet again Deanna and I were the ONLY public there. Plus, of course, we don’t have a say.

What do the other parents think.

The difference between the lowest bid and the next was $1,500 or $1,600.

Is morality worth $1,500?

The real underlying issue here is that sexual harassment in the workplace is not a felony (or that is what I read).
