My Hand Painted 2021 Valentine’s Day Card By Teischan (14).

by Anura Guruge

I had no idea that she had made us all some of her quintessential hand painted cards. I thought she was too busy with her new puppy & a LARGE canvas that she has been working on his Christmas. She likes her cards to be surprises. This one was indeed a very pleasant surprise. Suffice to say it made my day. She is a treasure. SMILE.

Made From Scratch (i.e., Clay), Dried & Hand Painted Toadstools By Teischan (14).

by Anura Guruge

Yes, another Christmas present. This one for her sister.

One of many of her artistic gifts this year — which included my painting & the hand painted sneakers (which you can see above).

This was her FIRST foray with clay. I had no idea she was working with clay. This blew me away. She could easily sell these. They are so cute. But, she refuses to sell. Money does not motivate her!

Hand Painted Sneakers As A Christmas Present From Our 14-Year Old Daughter.

by Anura Guruge

The whole sneaker is hand painted by you know who — 14-years old. First time. She knew she could do it. Got the mother to buy her a pair of white sneakers. Painted them. They are a Christmas present to the mother. How special.

I am sure she could sell such sneakers at quite a price. Not interested. Will NOT part with her work. Has to stay in the house. She has only made one exception. For a friend of mine who was dying from cancer.

Oliver Mtukudzi Has A Daughter, Selmor, Who Is Trying To Carry The Torch & Legacy For The Family.

I was not aware of her. I really know so little about Oliver Mtukudzi’s life other than his music. I must rectify that.

As with Sam Mtukudzi, his now departed son, and ‘Marshall Munhumumwe‘, a contemporaneous Zimbabwean musician, it is YouTube that brought her to my attention — this morning — as a suggestion. Thanks, YouTube. You sure know what will pique my interest.

She is good and some of Oliver’s band members play with her. That is all good, though she, at least from the little I have heard so far, is NO Oliver or for that matter Sam. But, she is ALIVE and that is definitely a PLUS. Smile.

I wanted to share the news with you — which I have now done. Check it out. You might like her.

‘Angela Waldron’ — An Award-Winning Writer & Photographer From Maine, Who Works At ‘The Farnsworth’ Museum.

by Anura Guruge

Click to read the original at ‘Find Maine Writers’.

A pretty impressive and distinctive résumé. A Maine lobsterman’s daughter at that — which resonated since this is also the case with my wife. From what I can deduce they are both from roughly the same area in Maine, albeit from different age demographics.

I came across her at ‘The Farnsworth Art Museum‘, in Rockland, Maine, where she is the Registrar. There is a book in their collection that I have been trying to get hold of for 16-years — though to be fair I gave up the first time after a few months. But, I have renewed my quest.

When I was at the museum recently (on our last trip to Maine) I made some inquiries as to who I should now be talking to about trying to get hold of this book. I was given Angela’s name and hre contact information.

As some of you know, I never contact anyone (or respond to anyone for that matter) before I Google them and try and get a read of who they might be. Amazes me the number of people who contact I, via e-mail, my blog or phone, who have no idea who I am and what I do. [When I used to teach, I Googled all the enrolled students prior to the first class. Weren’t they surprised! What used to crack me up was that none of them had Googled me — and many of them were trying to get Web-related degrees and jobs.]

I kind of figured that ‘the writer‘ and ‘the Registrar‘ had to be one and the same, given her degree in anthropology, her interests culture and her location (i.e., Downeast Maine).

I did get to talk to her and she was most helpful. Also extremely modest. She was very reticent to acknowledge that she was indeed the award-winning writer I had found on the Web.

Well, just thought that some of you too might enjoy getting to know her.

So, let me please introduce to you: ‘Angela Waldron, of Maine, writer, photographer, Registrar and one heck of a nice person‘. Oh, a lobersman’s daughter too.

(Our niece just got married to a active lobersman on Oct. 19 which is why we were in Rockland this time around. And while we were at the museum I met a curator who was a retired lobsterman. He knew my wife’s father. My wife and he had quite the chat.)

James & Lizette Eckert, Alton (NH) Shooting Victims: Vital Data Culled From Excellent ‘Boston Globe’ Article.

by Anura Guruge

Data culled from this “Boston Globe” article.

Long article. So, I am summarizing some of the key data so you can get a snapshot.

But, please read the original if you have the time. It is very good & informative.

Click image to access the original post.

♦ Met at ‘Palmer College of Chiropractic‘ in Iowa.

♦ Got married in 1997. [He would have been 26, she 28. No details of prior relationships, children or where they came from.]

♦ Established ‘Innate chiropractic’ in South Portland in 1998. [There is also, coincidentally or otherwise, an ‘Innate Chiropractic’ in Iowa.]

♦ Owned a ‘big house’ on a lake in Gray, Maine — the lake being ‘Little Sebago Lake’.

♦ One biological child, a daughter (born before 2010, probably around 2004).

♦ Adopted two boys (NOT twins) from a Russian orphanage in 2010 via ‘KidsFirst Adoption’ agency in Indiana.. The youngest, the 11-year old shooter, would have been 2-years old at the time. The older brother was probably 4 or 5.

They violated Russian adoption rules, which require mandatory yearly updates, by ceasing to send such reports after the third year.

♦ Believed to have had, c. 2010, $100,000 in credit card debts & $250,000 in student loans.

But, had not stopped them from buying a boat, a timeshare and a Mercedes Benz camper.

Legal Woes

♦ 2009 IRS audit on ‘Innate chiropractic’ that resulted in the IRS asking for $100,000+ in payments.

They contested the IRS in court.

♦ August 2011: With battle with IRS ongoing they file for bankruptcy: over $2 million in liabilities, just $600,000 in assets.

♦ March 2012: Stopped paying mortgage.

♦ July 2012: Dismissed bankruptcy proceedings. Not going as they had hoped. They were now liable for all of their ever mounting debt.

Move to Alton

♦ Late 2012: They abscond from their Gray, Maine house (with its unpaid mortgage) at night — taking with them, among other things, the water heater from the house.

♦ Farmhouse, at 76 Dobbins Way, Alton, where the shooting took place, was supposedly built-in 1770. It sits on 19-acres.

It was purchased in October 2012 for $140,000 — supposedly by Lizette Eckert’s father.

♦ Lizette started working for ‘Sanctuary Bodyworks and Sauna‘ in Pittsfield, NH, as a chiropractor.

♦ James ran a chiropractic business, from home, in Alton, called “The Big Idea“. [I can’t find any details about it or whether he was licensed to practice in New Hampshire.]

UPDATE: His NH license supposedly lapsed in 2015. Possibly her’s too. Check this April 11, 2019 post.

I was on Facebook discussion this morning about female programmers when I brought the name ‘Ada Lovelace‘. Somebody commented on how it sounded like a name that Donald Trump might have paid hush money to. He had a point. ‘LOVELACE’. Got me thinking, which then led to, of course, some intense Googling.

Wow! Intriguing. So, there are two competing theories as to the origins of the name (as you can clearly see above): lawless and ‘short on love’. I go with the forner.

I did not know that Ada was Lord Byron’s legitimate daughter and was born Ada Byron.

The Lovelace came from her marriage, but not initially. Her husband, to begin with, was William, 8th Baron King. He was later made Earl of Lovelace — Ada a descendent of the then extinct Barons Lovelace. What a story. Kind of sad also. She died from uterine cancer, aged 36. Same age her father had died.

Well, it definitely was worth looking into. I learned so much.

Does President Donald Trump Have A Security Clearance?

by Anura Guruge

But, that is perfectly kosher. As it is supposed to be.

U.S. elected officials at the Federal Level, Supreme Court Justices or other constitutional officers do NOT require security clearances. They have access to classified material but that access is not contingent or based on a security clearance.

So, the Vice President does not have a security clearance either.

So, you can see why Trump is rather ambivalent as to his daughter, son-in-law and other staff officials getting security clearances.

Being elected by VOTERS is deemed to be enough.

Seems like there is a flaw here, especially if the Russians tamper with the elections.

Today, April 7, Was Master Sitarist Ravi Shankar’s Birthday — He Having Been Born In 1920.

Wow. They are BOTH dead. One dying much younger than the other.

He was magical.

Given that I have spent a LOT of time in India I have had my share of sitar and tabla music.

I am not a huge fan but I can listen to decent/good sitar/tabla music for an extended period of time.

Ravi Shankar is good. I enjoyed listening to him. I hear his daughter is very good. She plays in New Hampshire quite often BUT I have yet to catch her.
