Hampton Beach, N.H.: New Year’s Eve 2020 (i.e., December 31, 2019) Fireworks CANCELLED — Not A Joke, OFFICIAL.

I read about this YESTERDAY and didn’t believe it. Thought it was a joke.

Today, I called up the ‘Ashworth By The Sea‘ Hotel and checked. It is kosher.

Fireworks cancelled!

Wolfeboro, N.H. cancelled theirs today.

Shame. I am bummed.

I think Portsmouth is still going ahead.

Wolfeboro, N.H.: New Year’s Eve 2020 (i.e., December 31, 2019) Fireworks CANCELLED — Also So NO ‘First Night’.

The fireworks, BOTH 6:30 & 8:30pm, were ‘just’ CANCELLED.

Bummer. I was checking whether it was 6pm or 6:30pm! Glad I checked.

Haven’t missed a Wolfeboro New Year’s Eve firework show in YEARS.

Shame.

There has been NO ‘First Night‘ in Wolfeboro on December 31, 2019.

There was NO ‘First Night’ in 2018, 2017 or 2016!

Instead there is a ‘Last Night’ that wraps up by 9pm.

I have always maintained that there is no such thing as a bad fireworks show. They are all good, by default and definition.

So, these fireworks, at the ungodly early hour of 6:30pm, were good. People liked them. They applauded and honked their horns. So, that alone was good.

It was sure cheerful and a nice prelude to the snowstorm that was on the way. As it transpires the timing kind of worked out. Per the weather forecasts it did start snowing sharp at 8pm.

Not that many people and Wolfeboro was rather quiet. No traffic, whatsoever.

To I, New Year’s Eve is not complete without fireworks. So, I am indeed glad that we went.

Happy New Year.

Wolfeboro, N.H.: No ‘First Night’ For 2019 (i.e., December 31, 2018) BUT There Is A ‘Last Night’.

by Anura Guruge

For 2019 – 2020 UPDATE, i.e., Dec. 31, 2019.

This was also the case last year and the year before.

No ‘First Night’, with a midnight fireworks, as there used to be — instead a ‘Last Night’ that wraps up by 9pm.

An early end will not be a bad thing in 2018 since we will be getting snow/ice/rain around that time.

Wolfeboro, N.H.: No ‘First Night’ For 2017 (i.e., December 31, 2016) BUT There Is A ‘Last Night’.

by Anura Guruge

I said that this was a possibility in my December 12, 2016, “No First Night” post.

Well, it has become a reality.

Shame it ends at 10pm — hence why it is ‘Last Night’ (2016) as opposed to ‘First Night’ 2017.

New Hampshire Health Plan Intends To Bill Us For January 2014 EVEN THOUGH They Sent Us Cancellation Notices!

New Hampshire Health Plan sent all of us CANCELLATION letters saying that our policies will be AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED
as of Dec. 31, 2013 because of Obamacare.

You know the story. Remember Obama LIED.

I did, of course, do a POST on it because I do get my insurance from them

As soon as I saw damn Obama’s lips flapping last week about how he was going to permit Insurance companies to extend cancelled policies for another year, Obamacare be damned, I immediately felt a very sharp pain in my physically virgin derrière. I knew I was going to get SHAFTED.

I was right. I had told Deanna that this would happen.

Earlier this week I heard the dreaded new on NHPR.

Yesterday, I called them up.

They were so giddy with happiness that they could hardly talk.

They are going to automatically debit our bank accounts for the January 2014 premium IRRESPECTIVE of the cancellation notices they send US!

If you don’t want to be automatically renewed YOU have to tell so in writing — because as far as they are concerned damn Obama, with his flapping lips, nullified their cancellation letter.

I am sure that legally they are on a sticky wicket BUT I don’t have the money to pay a DOUBLE premium in January and also fight these F***ers.

Yes, I have already written my letter.

So you have been warned.

Thanks are unnecessary. I am here to serve.

New Hampshire Health Plan covered self-employed folks like me with pre-existing conditions.

Though they never really paid for anything, partly because I have a $10,000 deductible (and also because they have a pathological aversion to paying), I, in theory, through them had catastrophic coverage — and I needed that because doctors love to tell me that I am a catastrophe just waiting to happen.

Now they are going. Their rationale makes sense. As of January 1, 2014, thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), other insurance companies cannot deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions. BUT, they can still charge you an arm, a leg and a testicle.

This is NOT good news.

Another New Year’s Eve 2012 Option In NH: Santa’s Village, Partybation, In Jefforson, NH.

I continue to be on the lookout for New Year’s Eve 2012 celebration opportunities in NH beyond those that I have already discussed, that are taking place in: Wolfeboro, Manchester and Portsmouth.

I found another. Santa’s Village, Partybation, in Jefferson, NH. It looks interesting.

I have only been to Santa’s Village once, and that was 2 years ago. I was surprised by how far it was. Beautiful ride, but ‘WoW’. It was like an hour beyond ‘Story Land‘ in Jackson. If I was up there, I might consider the drive. Plus, I know that there are a lot of adults, thanks to fond childhood memories of the place, who love going there. So, this might be an option for them. It is $27 for adults. Seems a tad on the high side given the location. Plus it does not go on until midnight. Finishes at 9pm. So most folks will be on the road at midnight! But, here is a sneak preview.
