Nikon’s Detailed Brochure For The Z6/Z7 Is Worth Studying — Download It Here.

I noticed that folks on the ‘DPReview.com‘Nikon Z’ forum mentioned this brochure often (– justifiably as I now appreciate).

So, this morning I went looking for it. Got it from the Nikon Website. But, you can download a copy directly from here. That way you can buy yourself a few seconds and dive straight in.

I need to study it further — but I will have plenty of time. I do NOT plan to get my Nikon Z6 till after Christmas. I want all the holiday craziness to be over and for Nikon to have got rid of its first batch. I can wait. The Sony a7 II is still doing good.

I will keep you posted.

The Brand New Samsung Galaxy S9 Gets A Damning Review From ‘DPReview’ Re. Autofocus.

Wow. I was amazed to read this. I know that the Samsung Galaxy S8 takes brilliant pictures and the focus always seems pretty close to perfect. I am often torn as to whether the camera on the Google Pixel 2 (which I own) is really more competent than that of the S8 as all the experts claim. So, I had expected the S9 to be even more impressive — especially with the dual rear cameras — one with variable aperture, the first in a phone.

If this autofocus issue is as bad as DPReview claims, and they usually are spot-on on such matters, I am sure that Samsung will try to fix it with a firmware upgrade ahead of the holidays. Otherwise they are going to have their lunch eaten by Apple, Google and the oters.

I just wanted to make sure you had heard about this — since this is important.

What Are The Best Selling Digital Cameras (DSLRs) In Early 2016.

by Anura Guruge

DPReview (which I visit often)
maintains a list of
“Most Popular Cameras”
on their sidebar.

This is the current list.

Click to ENLARGE and view here. On main page of dpreview.com — on righthand side sidebar.

That my two current cameras, i.e., the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 & Panasonic Lumix LX100, appear in the top 5, of course, makes me happy.

But this list has never made sense to me in that it has 4 Panasonic cameras and one each of Canon and Nikon. That is not what I see when I am out and about. I see a LOT of Nikons and then Canons. Very rarely do I see a Panasonic, though that could just be related to where I go.

Anywho, it appears that this DPReview list is based on the Page Views that they see. That makes sense. So it does not reflect what people are buying. Just what they are looking at, during a given period, at DPReview. That also explains the low % counts — given that people must view millions and millions of different pages on DPReview.

Out of curiosity I went and checked the Amazon best sellers. Panasonic does NOT make the top 9.

Click on images to ENLARGE. From Amazon. You can get to it under each category of camera.

So the Amazon lists (hopefully) reflect true sales at Amazon as opposed to people checking out cameras. Yes, these make sense to me, Nikon & Canon when it comes to DSLRs and Sony and Fuji dominating the mirrorless — though I am surprised that Olympus and Panasonic didn’t make the grade with the Micro Four-Thirds.
