My wife sent me the link to this — she having seen it on a local library site.

Beyond Cool. WOW.

The library had suggested a radio station in western Ireland. I tried a few there.

Then I did the OBVIOUS, for I. I tried Sri Lanka. WOW. WOW. WOW.

This is amazing. This is magical.

Yes, it is eating up Internet bandwidth. SMILE.

But, you have to try it.

Instant Karma: World’s First Porsche Fails To Sell At Auction Because Of Bad English?

by Anura Guruge

Classic.

A German car and a Dutch auctioneer. I know the Dutch have a long, storied history when it comes to auctioneering BUT how do you end up with one that even his OWN PEOPLE can’t understand.

This was a multi-million dollar question. Nobody at Sotheby’s was paying attention? This is crazy.

But, I class it as ‘Instant Karma‘. German cars give you that. Trust me on this.

Garmin’s Acquisition Of ‘Tacx’, The Maker Of Indoor Bike Trainers Very Puzzling & Kind Of Stupid.

by Anura Guruge

Why, or Why?

Does Garmin plan to add GPS to stationary indoor bikes? That is the kind of stupid thing that Garmin is likely to do these days!

Garmin is NOT in the indoor bike business and claiming that it is going to branch out into that sector is stupid.

Garmin has to stay with its core strengths: GPS and wearables!

This is stupid and I here talk as a longtime Garmin investor. So, I do have a right to be concerned. I have money in Garmin.

I was involved in a number of $100+ MILLION acquisitions in the late 1990s with Cisco — the then market leader in networking. We always worked on the adaje “don’t even think about buying a cow if you can get all the milk you need at a reasonable price”. Shame that nobody at Garmin knew of this basic rule of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). It is actually called the “Cow Rule”.

Garmin should be investing in health technology for its watches — blood pressure monitoring, diabetes etc.

Instead, it buys an unknown Dutch maker of indoor bike trainers. Blinking amazing. Typical Garmin.

The British Captured ‘The Rock Of Gibraltar’ This Day 313-Years Ago From ; August 4, 1704, From Spain.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and read here. Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibraltar

Claims that the capture took place on August 3, 1704 are one day OUT! The battle for ‘The Rock‘ started August 3 but the Spanish garrison did not capitulate until the next day, i.e., August 4.

Also note that it was NOT a straightforward British conquest as is often assumed. To start with it was a British-Dutch fleet that captured it and it was done on behalf of Austria!

Britain did not get ‘Gib’ did 9 years later, in 1713.

I made the double-sided card using VistaPrint. I looked around and in the end they offered the BEST combination of design flexibility, design ease and price. VistaPrint, after you spend a few minutes exploring them, are not just easy to use but also a delight.

Until I started paying them I had NO idea, until I saw the N.V. after their name, that they were a Dutch, i.e., Netherland’s, company. I have no problems with that. I am very fond of Holland and the Dutch and have spent a LOT of quality time in the Netherlands. It is just that they come across as a quintessential American company. Good for them. Bravo.

All the images are mine. I basically used their free-form, use your own images and design, tool.

The snowy scene, as some of you would recognize, is lovely Wolfeboro, N.H., from the Lake (with me doing my walking on water (WOW) routine), taken this February.

The cliffy ocean scene, that goes with the waves breaking picture I use as the cover in “Orgasms: 101 Facts & Trivia“, were both taken by me, last September, when we again visited the incomparable Acadia National Park in Maine.

Let me know if you want some of these business cards.

Yes, I guess if I am really honest (and I tend to be that 99.96% of the time) I must have always had a hankering for a business card that had the word ‘orgasm’ on it.

I had some, at MacDurgin, that said “Chief Bottle Washer”. But I think I like these new ones better. If nothing else they are colorful.
