From the Wikipedia post as above. The ‘Blue’ was Thatcher’s Conservative Party. It was pretty much a landslide. I voted in ‘West End’ — to the NE of Southampton. I marked it on the map. It was a pretty BLUE area. {SMILE}

I do remember this. It was a big day. I voted. Made sure I did. Those days I never missed a chance to vote.

Wow. 38- years ago. Seems like a long time ago.

THANK YOU Mrs. Thatcher. You were great.

My friend and frequent collaborator ‘Mark T.’ is a longtime and avid collector of papal coins. I have done many posts about his papal coins in my (old) “Popes and Papacy” blog.

Go to “Popes and Papacy” and search on ‘coins’ or click on the coins, to the right, to take you to a post that will serve as a good start.

This is a Billon Denaro Paparino of Urban VI (#203), 1378 to 1389, the LAST non-cardinal to be elected pope. He proved to be more than a handful. Not a coincidence that they have never elected a non-cardinal since! And he was 600 years ago. I have a LOT about him in my “Next Pope 2011” book.

on the left image (two keys), starting from the upper right, S PETRVS ET PAVL (i.e., Saints Peter and Paul).

Another restitution medal (c. 1710) engraved by Giovanni Battista Pozzo, of John VI (#85), 701 to 705. So this coin minted 1,ooo years after his death!

Another one by the same artist/engraver, of Portuguese physician John XXI (#188), 1276 – 1277 who died when the ceiling of his hastily constructed library, in Viterbo [Italy], collapsed on him. So this was 500 years after his death.

Alton Prospect Mountain School: School Board Committee Assignments Are Beyond Ironic Or Even Incongruous! Talk About Chutzpah.

On April 14, 2013, I flagged that some of the Alton School Board members may have some germane, financial matters related issues, already in the public domain, that they might want to disclose so that we are all on the same chapter so to speak.

Suffice to say that no such disclosures have been forthcoming.

Then, I saw the School Board committee assignments for Prospect Mountain High School (PMHS) in ‘The Baysider‘. That was beyond a joke.

There are a number of words that come to my mind to describe some of these assignments. Shameless is high on the list.

Contrary to what some people think I have no real desire to muck rake or embarrass folks. That is why I urged that the relevant folks make their own disclosures — given that all the pertinent information is already in the public domain. So, I am not going to call out the specific, grossly inappropriate assignments. But lets just say that they had a committee for ‘nutrition and exercise for kids‘. Well it would be like assigning a school board member with a BMI of 35 to that committee. Enough said. At some point this stuff will have to come out. There might even be some legal requirements for disclosure. But, I will let others worry about that, for the time being.

This was in ‘The Baysider’ April 4, 2013 Editorial.
So that was just 10 days ago.

I think it was last year (maybe the year before) when there was this big commotion at an Alton Central School (ACS), School Board meeting when the father of one of the elected members, during the public input session, questioned another elected member of the board about the ‘mortgage status‘ on his house. That as it proved to be was a red herring. I am glad about that.

Since then we have also read about some strange financial shenanigans by the board, especially this leasing deal.

So here is my dilema.

IF elected officials in Alton have got themselves into precarious financial straits, that are not that common, should THEY publicly divulge them — since much of the information is actually in the public domain?

Of late people keep on sending me stuff — in the hope that I will write about it in this blog. I have, so far, not even scratched the surface of the material that has been sent to me! Of the 20 or 30 documents I have, I have only written about 2.

Nothing that I have is confidential data. It is all public domain data. Just public domain data that most people have not bothered to unearth. Yes, some have been obtained, locally or in Concord, using ‘Right To Know‘.

This last week I got a bunch of documents, links and URLs referring to Chapter 7 bankruptcies, foreclosures and auctions. Yes, I have looked at all of them.

I REALLY do not want to publish this stuff, since that is not really the goal of this blog. Since I covered ‘Vatileaks‘ extensively on my pope blogs I am very familiar with the hassles associated with this stuff — though there are NO LEAKS as such here, since I will ONLY (as a reputable author) ONLY accept PUBLIC DOMAIN, non-confidential documents and information. Much of the ‘financial stuff’ is straight from newspapers and Websites. Just a matter of finding them.

But, folks are pressurizing me — since they claim that this is the only place ‘in Alton’ that will publish this stuff.

Ideally this should be the purview of ‘The Baysider‘ and ‘The Laconia Daily Sun‘. That is why their reporters get the big bucks and all the glory. I don’t even get peanuts — and please don’t send me peanuts. I don’t like peanuts. You can send me as much cashew nuts, almonds & walnuts as you want. Those I eat, by the ton. Part of my diet. [And I have lost 15 pounds in 2 months so far this year.]

I talked with Josh Spaulding, the Editor of ‘The Baysider’ last night. I even shared the documents with him. Josh feels that this is PERSONAL stuff and that it should not be disclosed. I see his point.

But, when we are talking about budgets, money and fiscal stuff, Tax Payer Money, is it relevant?

I know that in the corporate world there would be an outcry if this stuff is not disclosed, if the relevant person is indeed making major financial decision.

I don’t know. Let me know what you think.

To ME, the most sanitary and satisfactory solution would be that the elected officials, voluntarily, make a public disclosure along with all the mitigation that they want to add. That way everything is out in the open, above board and there is no discontentment among the taxpayers.

Enough said for now.

Me On ‘Google News’ Yesterday,
The Day The Pope Got Elected. Posting This For Posterity
March 14, 2013.

I have had more interviews, Thursday and Friday, March 14 & 15, post the election of the pope. Canada’s ‘Global News’ that featured me quite a bit this past week had another article quoting me at the start. I did my first real press interview in 1983 when my first book, ‘SNA: Theory and Practice‘, came out. Since then I have realized the obvious advantageous of striking a rapport with reporters. They have a hard job. They are continually facing dead-lines. They don’t have much time to do all they have to do. IF you are nice to them and help them out, they invariably give you ‘star’ billing. So, I have had 30 years to work on this.

I had my second interview with ‘The Citizen’, from Laconia, yesterday, at home, at 4pm. Same reporter as last time. John Koziol. As I said then, he humbles me. A very impressive writer. It was an uplifting interview. He knows how to ask questions to draw the subject out. That is fun. Keep me on my toes. I am on the front page, right at the top, of ‘The Citizen’ today. This is what makes John so amazing. He didn’t leave here till 5:30 pm. But he still filed the story. Impressive.

So here is Google news today, March 16, 2013 — if you bang in ‘Anura Guruge’.

This is for the grand kids, if I get any.

Click to ENLARGE. Yes, Bergoglio WAS on my published ‘top 10’ list in ‘The Next Pope 2011’, page 4. That is indisputable.

So, lets go through what I did get right:

1/ I did list Jorge Mario Bergoglio as one of my ‘top 10’, though he was my last. But, better than those that did not have him at all in their lists. Proof: pages 4 & 29 of ‘The Book‘.

2/ I said on December 6, 2010, I said: “The Next Pope Is Also Likely To Be Over 75”. Proof: this post & page 7 of ‘The Book‘.

3/ On April 20, 2010, I said: “The Next Pope: Non-European, Non-Curial With ‘Clean Hands”. Proof: this post & page 11 of ‘The Book‘.

4/ I adamantly maintained that the next pope will not be from Africa, Asia or the U.S.A. Proof: this ‘pigs will fly’ post at a minimum & page 12 of ‘The Book‘.

5/ I was beyond categorical that the next pope will not be ‘Peter anything‘. Proof: this post as a start & page 221 of ‘The Book‘.

6/ I did foresee that the new pope might assume a brand new name. Proof: page 226 of ‘The Book‘.

Find me anybody else who got as much right … in published, verifiable form.

Given that I have four healthy kids, two of them over 20, I assume that there is a possibility that I may end up with a grandchild or two — though most likely way after I am dead and gone. This post is mainly for them, if they ever decide to Google me to see what the heck their grandfather did — assuming they are ever even told about me. I just want them to know that I wasn’t as much of a duffer as everybody would have made me out to be.

So this is what came up if you typed my name into ‘Google News’ (no, no … not Google search) yesterday. And this does not include the articles in the local papers like ‘The Citizen‘ or ‘The Baysider‘.

This was fun. 1pm to 2pm today, as the conclave, was taking place.

It was a real-time ‘interview’ with typed in answers.

Never done one before. They have special software for it called: ‘Scribble’. Since, I gather, it was so ‘successful’, they are keeping it open.

I know we are scheduled to do another live session when the new pope is elected. So, stay tuned. That could be Friday.

Ed Philpot Re-Elected As Chairman, Belknap Country Commission. Very Nice. Very Good. ANOTHER Win For Us.

Ed is a good guy, even if he is a lawyer (just like Andrew Hosmer). Ed really is one of those folks that will literally give you his shirt off his back. From what I recall, he doesn’t seem to charge much for his legal services — though it is possible he felt sorry for me (which is easy to do) and kind of charged me just a notch above pro bono. He is a good lawyer and as such very busy.

Click here for a picture of me talking to Ed at the Jill Biden event in Laconia.
