Test Matches Should NOT Be Played In Empty Stadiums — It Is NOT Cricket.

I have already talked about this. Click image to access my post.

I have just been watching the highlights of the Pakistan v Australia 1st Test in Dubai, UAE.

It is bloody amazing. TOTALLY EMPTY STADIUM.

Just a sea of empty blue seats.

I do NOT think there is even 100 people there if you don’t count the teams and the support staff.

You cannot play Test cricket in an empty stadium. It just kills your spirits.

There should be an asterix in the record books for all Tests played where the average attendance was less than 10,000/day.

This is a travesty.

The ICC should NOT permit this. The umpires should call the match off. I am NOT kidding.

Windies v Sri Lanka 1st Test In Trinidad Being Played In An Empty Stadium.

This was worse than the proverbial ‘one man and his dog’ because I couldn’t even spot a dog on the ground.

I think the crowd size was less than 100. Tops …. maximum counting all the staff etc. 250. It was a picture of space and emptiness.

Also, compared to other venues there was an acute shortage of advertising. First time in YEARS that I have actually see the boundary rope — sans advertising cushions.

No wonder the West Indies have financial troubles. The only revenue would have been from TV rights.

This is crazy. I know they all have to play a certain number of Tests to retain Test status but this was not the right series. They would have been better off not having any Tests and playing a few ODIs and T20s.
