I guess I have known about ‘Jagbits’ for some time now — even ahead of getting my first Jaguar, the burgundy red XJ8 from (eBay) “European-Cars“.

I had called them up when I was looking for XJ8s asking about parts for the moonroof because I had found a red XJ8L in Maine with an unretractable moonroof. ‘Gary’ was very helpful.

Then when I got an XJS, ‘Dewey’ the owner, a hardcore enthusiast who did a lot of the work on it himself, sent me a long e-mail with a list of repairs I should get done — money and time permitting. Against each one he had a link to the parts I would need. Each link went to Jagbits!

Last week I ordered the first two parts: a transmission mount kit and a subframe mount for the rear suspension. I was told just to get a bushing for the transmission. It was $17 at Jagbits. I have been around the block enough to know that that didn’t seem right. I called Jagbits. Got Gary again (and I have since learned that his full name is ‘Gary Ilcyn’.) I explained what I was looking for. He knew right away what I was talking about. He told me that they sold a kit with a spring and other stuff — all of which should be replaced if you were taking it all apart for the bushing. That made sense. They were offering free shipping of orders more than $125. So I went ahead and ordered the 2nd item on the e-mail. So I now got free shipping.

I had the parts, FedEx, within 2 days. Excellent service.

I am hooked. I don’t see a need to go anywhere else for my Jag bits. I am sold on Jagbits.

So this is a wholehearted ENDORSEMENT of Jagbits and Gary Ilcyn by a very committed Jag nut (who even owns shares in Tata Motors the owners of Jags).

SMILE.

Car Cheer06112015

I have already said GOOD things about Dave Gitman of ‘Car Cheer’, in Trevose (outside of Philadelphia), who sells lots of cars on eBay under the name “European-Cars”.

We got our Jag XJ8 from Dave via eBay.

Well I had it inspected for its N.H. Inspection Sticker (by “B-Boys” of Barnstead, NH) yesterday and had it registered, in NH, at the Alton Town Office on Monday.

In both instances everything went well without a hitch and that is why I felt compelled to say MORE good things about Dave and his operation.

The paperwork that Dave supplied (albeit for a small charge) was immaculate. The NH registration was completed without a single query or ‘do you have this‘. I liked that. So, paperwork, as he said it would be, was PERFECT. He has a wonderful, very proficient, assistant and she did us all proud. [Thank you.]

The car sailed through the inspection. Found nothing wrong. Paul Bousquet even went onto say that everything underneath was in excellent shape! His only concern was that I might have a problem opening the driver’s door from the inside. I had to laugh. The first time I was in the car I too thought that I was stuck and that the driver’s door would not open. I shouted at Dave. He laughed. It works FINE — the handle needs to be pressed harder than you would expect. Now that I am used to it I don’t think twice about it. Door opens fine. So that was the ONLY ‘problem’ that Paul found. I am delighted.

So credit where credit is due.

I can ONLY talk about my transaction and Dave did GOOD.

So, I will wholeheartedly recommend Dave, “Car Cheer” and “European-Cars”.

Yes, of course, being the professional cynic that I am I was skeptical and somewhat concerned buying a car, over the Internet. But, Dave showed me that it can be done and it can be done with great success.

This is all per the ‘master plan’. The the lease on the KIA Sportage was expiring ‘now’. Around February/March Devanee and I agreed that we will replace the KIA with two (2) Jags. The lease on the KIA was $222/month. I worked out I could get two OLD Jags for way less than that. And that is what we did.

We returned the KIA last week. We picked up a very nice, but very affordable, Jaguar XJ8, in Philadelphia, from “European-Cars” (eBay), two-weeks earlier.

Today, we had the XJS hand delivered by a very nice gentleman from Burlington, Vt. I had found it on Craigslist. We agreed on a good price. There was no point me driving 3 hours (one way) to Burlington to pick it up. I was buying it ‘as is’ and ‘as is’ was not bad. So I convinced him to drive it down (for the same price). He did. We have the XJS. We are pleased. 75,000 miles.

Devanee wanted an XJ8 and an XJS. The 12 cylinders and convertible were negotiable BUT she wanted it black. Well, I got her what she wanted.
