TP-Link Archer C9, Inexplicably, Reverts To Factory Settings During 7.5 Hour Power Outage!

by Anura Guruge

Strangest thing ever. We lost power today, i.e., September 11, 2016, for 7.5 hours because our electricity supplier ‘Eversource‘ (a.k.a. ‘Eversore‘) enjoys kicking its customers in the teeth, if not lower down.

But, after power was restored I couldn’t get my main Wi-Fi network to work.

The ethernet connected PCs, like this one, worked fine. But no Wi-Fi. Yes, I also have two very SEPARATE Wi-Fi networks in the house (actually 4) — with two different routers and two different ISPs, viz. MetroCast (the main network) and TDS (the backup network). We could use the TDS backup network but not the FASTER MetroCast Wi-Fi.

Went to logon to the TP-Link Archer C9 that runs the main Wi-Fi network.

It would NOT accept my logon. That got me worried.

Re-cycled power twice. Nothing. The default logon, admin/admin, worked.

Logged in.

No Wi-Fi networks. Back to factory settings. SCARY.

Yes, only took me a few minutes to reconfigure since I have it all documented.

No explanation!

Just a heads up.
