Yes, we have Lupins, multicolored at that, in New Hampshire, BUT we can’t match the abundance in which they blossom, each Summer, in Maine. Lupins are an iconic trademark of Maine. This is still early & I suspect that we still have quite a few weeks to go before they all fill out in their glory. Nonetheless, it was, indeed, heartwarming to see this splendid display, today, in Fort Williams (outside Portland).
I had to share it with you. Enjoy. I will do another post on the other flowers I encountered at Fort Williams. It is a great place to enjoy flora in the Summer.
Though the temps are far from warm, let alone hot, flora, tenacious as ever, are trying to make their presence felt. After the long, cold winters we endure it is such a delight to see color — & life.
The mushrooms were a treat. What tremendous colors. They look like cross-sections of brains. But, I have seen mushrooms on that very same log earlier in the year. I will have to keep an eye to see how they evolve.
What can I say other than I am very fortunate & I know & appreciate that. Though roses are now scarce, I do stop & smell the flowers — so to speak. I do NOT take it for granted. We probably will have snow within 6-weeks. But, foliage first. SMILE.
The heat has been brutal — though it has been more moderate the last few days. The heat & DROUGHT has taken a toll on the flowers. Getting hard to find. Most are wilted or dead. I guess Summer is also rapidly coming to an END! Yikes. COVID or not, it AGAIN went too fast. Snow soon. Oh, dear.
It has been an unusually hot Summer. Lots of (near) 90F days. This is taking a toll on the flowers. That was noticeable today. Most of the flowers were gone. But, still plenty of flora. I just wanted to share. ENJOY. SMILE.
