Hiking The ‘Shannon Brook Trail’ At ‘Castle In The Clouds’, Moultonboro, N.H.

It was the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. It was a picture perfect day in terms of New Hampshire weather. We wanted to do something ‘outside’ and the ‘Castle‘ came to mind. That we were going to dinner at Giuseppe’s in Meredith in the evening made it a ‘no brainer’. We could just do a loop of the Lake. And that is what we did.

Though we had free tickets for the ‘Castle‘ from ‘Volunteer Day‘ none of us wanted to tour the ‘Castle’ again. We have all visited it at least six times. So, we just wanted to enjoy the grounds. Found this hike. Nice and easy as hikes go and you can still visit the waterfall. So, great value. I enjoyed it. I had already walked/run 3 miles in the morning. So, I wasn’t too concerned that it was not overly long. Still ended up doing 20,000 steps for the day. I am cool with that.

This trail, as you can see from the maps, parallels the ‘paid entrance’ auto road for much of the way. You are not allowed to walk on the auto road — autos only. So, for folks like us who want to hike this is the way to do it. You can see the road from many places on the trail. You could cut across if you wanted. SMILE.

The Flowers Of Very Chic Meredith [N.H.] — June 12, 2019.

Meredith (New Hampshire) in the ‘Summer’ is always good for an impressive showing of flowers — and that is certainly the case in 2019 despite this crazy Spring we are having.

Meredith, today, was exquisite. All these flowers and the huge display of public art. WOW.

Many of these flowers were at Giuseppe’s — where we, of course, ate, as we invariably do.

If you have not been of late, PLEASE do yourself a favor (and treat) and visit.

I kid you NOT, Meredith (New Hampshire) is getting more beautiful and chic by the month. Each time I visit, which these days is about few times a year, Meredith has more art, more artistic stores and just a air of elegant sophistication. Wow. I lived in Meredith 1997 to 1999. It was nice then, on the upswing BUT nothing like it is now. If it was, I would never have moved.

Hands down, Meredith is NOW the MOST ATTRACTIVE of the Lake Winnipesaukee towns — Wolfeboro nowhere close. Alton, where I live, has to be the distant last.

But, I will go further. Meredith looks even better than Dartmouth or Portsmouth.

If you have not been of late, PLEASE do yourself a favor (and treat) and visit.

Eat at Giuseppe’s as we always do — and, of course, did today.

How I met Julie 22-years ago.
In case you are interested. Cute story.

This is so, so GREAT. Made my day when I saw it. So, well deserved. By FAR our favorite eatery anywhere on Lake Winnipesaukee. My now 18-year old daughter insists on going there for her birthday for at least the last 10-years. Plus, I have attended at least 22 of the to-date 25 annual JTG musical extravaganzas. I have been going there since 1997, if not 1996 — that been when I discovered Meredith.

Thank YOU, Julie. Thank YOU Michael. Thank YOU the staff.

You have nourished, entertained and treated us, right royally, for so many years.

Here is to the next 30-years. Cheers.

Just one 4:48 minute video, taken around 10pm, that attempts to capture the soaring spirit and magic of JTG 25 — 2019 at Giuseppe’s in Meredith.

This was Mike Loughin (on right, blue shirt), Joey Gnerre (piano) and friends.

I only made this one video. Taking close up stills is my thing. So, photos to follow.

Initial heads-up. As with last year 2019 JTG will be in May rather than in April, Sunday, May 5, 2019 to be precise.

As always this should be a blast, and I should know. I have been to at least 22 of the 25 JTGs over the years.

I will keep you posted. Stay tuned.

We went to Giuseppe’s, in Meredith (NH), one of our perennial favorite restaurants for Devanee’s 18th birthday. They have a nice mirror that I had noticed on prior visits. This time I managed to shoot a picture.

Today, 10/10/2018, was Devanee’s 18th birthday.

As has been HER custom for as long as we can remember there was only one, and only one place she wanted to go for her birthday dinner — Giuseppe’s in Meredith. It is her all time favorite place and has been basically all her life. A great testament to the wonderful owner of Giuseppe’s, Julie Gnerre Bourgeois — a good and dear friend to us all.

We started taking Devanee to Giuseppe’s in 2003, if not 2002. She would have been 3 (or 2). She has loved it ever since.

We know that AT LEAST for the last 8-years, if not more, we have been taking her to Giuseppe’s on October 10 for her birthday.

It has always been a fabulous experience. They go ALL out and Julie makes sure we get a really scrumptious, memorable cake. (Thanks, Julie.)

No different this year. Another great experience — with an added BONUS. Our favorite local musician, Paul Warnick, was playing. That was the icing on the cake. We think Paul is the cat’s whiskers. So, it could not have been better.

The staff, as ever, was outstanding. Thanks Giuseppe’s. Thanks Paul. Thanks Julie.

Another OUTSTANDING JTG. It is just amazing. Such a wonderful, warm, fun evening.

Very rewarding and fulfilling both in terms of food, music and bonohime.

We had reservations at 7pm. Usually that is when we leave. But, now Teischan is older and being homeschooled to boot. So, we could stay later. That was good because the acts we like, and have enjoyed over the years, have got pushed back later-and-later as new acts are added earlier in the day.

So, we got to see and listen to our perennial favorites — and they are listed above and below.

We were there till past 9pm when Michael Bourgeois finished his set.

So here are SOME of the pictures I took.

With SINCERE apologies to Rick Page. I just couldn’t reach you behind the drums. Sorry. I TRIED. Honest.
