1st New Hampshire Coronavirus Patient, Medical Professional No Less, Who Did NOT Self-Isolate Should Be CHARGED & Fired.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE & read here. This was from: wokq.com. Google for more.

Yes, we know that it is a male, he works at ‘Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center‘ (DHMC) in Hanover, he caught it in Italy and that he was instructed by the hospital to self-isolate.

He was told to self-isolate on Friday.

But, that evening he attended a private, invitation-only function attended by STUDENTS. He knew that!

That is criminal.

He can’t claim that he was ‘unaware’ since he works for Dartmouth — though Dartmouth is not immune from hiring idiots.

If anybody dies, after catching the virus from him, he should be charged with MANSLAUGHTER. Simple as that, because that is what it is.

That DHMC has not fired him as yet is also inexcusable.

They claim that he did NOT come into contact with any patients. I don’t really believe them. SMILE.

I Was Blatantly Racially Profiled By ‘Dartmouth Hitchcock (Concord)’ Today!

by Anura Guruge

I could NOT believe it. At registration, at the front, the receptionist asked me, point-blank: “Are you a U.S. citizen?”

I had presented her my valid N.H. driver’s license WITH REAL ID (which states that I have been fully vetted) & my Humana Advantage card that showed that I was on MediCare. Moreover, I had been a registered patient there of 12-years! I was just there to get a pneumonia shot — by appointment, after having got my flu shot a few weeks ago.

They have never previously asked whether I was a U.S. citizen.

What does citizenship have to do with Dartmouth ‘bloody’ Hitchcock?

I asked her that. She just shrugged her shoulder.

This is NOT right.

I am NOT going to let this one pass.

This was the final straw with the bunch of clowns at Dartmouth ‘bloody’ Hitchcock — Concord.

They have screwed me by overcharging $1,600 (out-of-pocket) for a colonoscopy.

Click to access my post from 10-years ago.

They nearly KILLED me by not giving me the treatment I needed.

They treated my daughter since she was born BUT thought she was a BOY when her gender was never in question.

Click to access another post from 6-years ago.

That is it. I am DONE.

I have already reported them to the ACLU and Senator Maggie Hassan. And I have just started.

They can’t be allowed to carry on.

Bloody Dartmouth Bloody Hitchcock.

And they are NOT even ASSOCIATED with Dartmouth Hitchcock in Hanover. They have JUST bought the rights to use the name. You didn’t know that did you?

“Big Apple Circus” “Grandma”, Barry Lubin Resigns Over Sexual Misconduct (#MeToo!).

This is pretty incredible, shocking and sad.

We are real familiar with ‘Grandma’ & the ‘Big Apple Circus‘.

Before we started going to ‘Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus‘, on an annual basis, until they shut up shop in 2017, we used to go to the ‘Big Apple Circus‘ — at their Hanover (New Hampshire) performance, until they stopped coming c. 2011.

The main incident, which he had admitted, happened in 2004 and involved a 16-year old aerialist and pornographic photos! Not good. What was he thinking.

That he resigned per se, is a bit confusing in that it appears that he retired a couple of years ago.

Not good. Sure that there are a lot of parents mortified …

Another black eye for today’s circuses just as “The Greatest Showman” continues to do gangbusters at the movies.

“Walk In The Woods”, Adaptation Of Bill Bryson’s Book, Was Painfully, Dreadfully Awful.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access “IMDb.com” listing for this dreadful movie.

This movie, which like the book could have been brilliant, failed, and failed miserably on two fronts.

It was NOT TRUE to Bill Bryson’s (compelling) book & it was NOT TRUE to reality.

There are NO, I repeat ‘NO’, grizzly bears anywhere on the Appalachian Trail. For them to show an extremely well trained grizzly (who thought it was so funny himself that he had a permanent grin on his face) attacking a camp on the AT is a sick, a very sick joke.

Bill Bryson was 47 when he walked the trail. Robert Redford, who plays Bill Bryson in the movie, was a very old and decrepit 79. 79! That is a 68% difference in bloody age and it makes a bloody difference.

Bill Bryson lives in historic and amazingly picturesque Hanover, New Hampshire — home of Dartmouth College. The furthest north that the film crew travelled was Sharon, Connecticut — about 300 miles south. To try and pass of communities in CT as being in New Hampshire makes me, a proud NH resident, mad, very mad.

Dreadful, dreadful movie.

Why Bill Bryson, who I have always admired and respected (and would part with one of my testicle in order to emulate) would sell his soul for this atrocious movie totally and utterly baffles me. Why? He can’t want MORE money. He is RICH! Never understood the insatiable greed of rich people — never having had the luck or luxury of ever being rich. Why? John Irving is another of my top 10 authors. I think he is the cat’s whiskers. Why he bastardized his iconic “The Cider House Rules” for the movie always disappointed and disillusioned me. The only good thing that happened from that was I married Deanna — the only female I had met who understood that the movie was just tripe and bore no resemblance to the book!

Why there was a copy of “The Cider House Rules” next to our wedding cake in 2003.

The “If You Can Read THIS The BITCH Fell Off” T-shirt from the 1990s.

I first saw this, on the back of a biker, during Laconia Bike Week, c. 1996.

I couldn’t stop laughing for two weeks.

I could never wear one since I was NOT a biker.
Thought about getting one for the jet ski, but the lifevest obscured it.

Saw this last night, in Hanover, NH, at the “Salt Hill Pub“, after Christmas Revels 2015 (North).

It is SO CLEVER at multiple levels (at least 3).

It was been worn by a (very nice) waitress. She was KIND enough to let me photograph her back, though when she gave permission, she had no idea what part of her (very attractive) backside I had designs on. She laughed when she saw what I had snapped.

Appears that they sell those T-shirts there and the waitresses wear them, on a rotating basis, as a promotional gimmick. She wanted to know whether I was interested in buying one. Alas, I pointed out to her that I was not in the habit of wearing T-shirts that promoted things and that I no longer partook in beer (just wine).

Third, maybe fourth time, we have been to the “Salt Hill Pub” — all, of course, after a show at the HOP. We like the place. Fun place. Decent food. Decent prices. Very friendly waitresses. Highly recommended.

That Lebanon, New Hampshire Was Ranked #1 Best Small Town In The U.S. Does Not Surprise Me.

View of the Connecticut River, on whose east bank both Lebanon and Hanover are on — Vermont being on the west bank. This image of the river, crossing the river, grabbed from Google’s ‘street view’. Click to ENLARGE.

That LebanonNew Hampshire, managed to grab the #1 spot would NOT surprise anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting Hanover, N.H. — the home of Dartmouth College, the HOP Center for Performing Arts and the famed Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) — which is next door. Essentially when anybody talks about Lebanon, N.H., in a context like this, they are really talking Lebanon-Hanover amalgamated.

I have always, since my first eye opening visit in 1998, have thought of Hanover as a cultural and social oasis within N.H. As I describe it to people (who know Boston) — it is as if Boston’s Newbury Street was transplanted in New Hampshire.

Hanover, N.H., with its lovely, quintessential ‘village’ green, with the mandatory white building with spires surrounding it, is one of my favorite places to visit in N.H. Luckily, we do typically manage to get there at least 4 times a year — usually more. Most times these days, now that we do not go to DHMC (Hanover) as much as we used to, we go there for performances at the HOP.

Lebanon per se, to be honest, is a bit rough even by N.H. standards. But thanks to Hanover the surrounding area, in a 20 mile radius, has a genteel, salubrious air of good New England living.

So I am not at all surprised of the ranking. To be honest 8 years ago, before we moved to Alton, we looked at the prospect of moving to the Hanover area. Compared to the Lakes Region that area was at least 70K more expensive in terms of comparable housing. That is why we ended up in Alton.

So Bravo to Lebanon/Hanover. Well done. You have done New Hampshire pride.

That Bar Harbor, Maine, the port of call for Acadia National Park came in at #5 did, however, cause me to pucker my eyebrows. Do not get me wrong. We love Bar Harbor. Of late we have been visiting there twice a year and plan to be there SOON. Bar Harbor is lovely, but in many ways it is a one-trick pony town. Acadia. Yes, of course, it has a fabulous main street, great eateries and scenery, both aquatic and green, to kill — but it is mainly a Summer tourist town. Yes, if we could find the right place, for the right price, we would live within 35 miles of Bar Harbor in a heartbeat and Deanna of late is kind of urging me to find a place where she can see the ocean. So I think, as with Lebanon, when they really meant Lebanon-Hanover, I think they are using ‘Bar Harbor’ here as a token for meaning that whole ‘Acadia’ area. And that I can BUY with no trouble. One of the most beautiful areas in the northeast.

Have YOU Noticed That Your Property Insurance Is Going Up? GEICO Is Only ‘Cheap’ For Auto.

Our insurances, auto and property (combined), comes up for renewal towards the end of this month.

We had been with Hanover, through our local Alton agents at Cross, for a number of years. We have not made any claims during that period. But, when I got my renewal papers all my rates had gone up — in particular the rates for the property (i.e., house) insurance. Did not make sense to me. Then I had a chat with our, always delightful, agent. She tells me it is because of the glut of ‘recent’ natural disasters around the country — and even in our backyard (and I do mean our backyard) in terms of the 2008 (or was in 2009) tornado. But, it irks me. So on principle I am terminating my policy with Hanover.

Checked out GEICO. Their auto insurance is a TAD, and I really do mean a ‘tad’, cheaper. But, they don’t themselves write property insurance. They go to another underwriter. Their property insurance rates are HIGH and they knew it. Together, with all of the bundlings discounts, it is still MORE EXPENSIVE than what I am being quoted by Hanover. So much for GEICO. You have to be careful with them. ALL they really want to do is to get a bank account number or credit card so that they can start billing you ASAP. I was not impressed.

I can’t get hold of a Progressive Insurance Agent! I would pay MORE to have insurance with Progressive because I love their ads. So I am willing to pay, say $40 a year more, just so that I can feel proud when the Ads come on. But we don’t seem to have any local Progressive Agents.

Yes, my agent has found me another firm which is fractionally cheaper — provided I write her a check close to $2,000 to cover the whole year! [My 21 year old son, who likes to speed (like his dad he claims), is on our policy. That explains about $400 of that premium.]

But, just a heads up. Check your insurance rates.

We happened to see a huge poster for this ballet when we attended the gala ‘St. Matthew Passion‘ concert at the Dartmouth Hopkins Center ‘last’ weekend.

I kind of knew, at once, when I saw the poster that this was no ordinary ballet troupe. Deanna read the whole blurb to make sure. We Brits are very partial to camp comedy — even ‘Are You Being Served‘ very camp in its own way. This looks like a lot of fun, plus they seem very talented. We are thinking of going.

I am sure the kids will be fine with it. The ballet, from what I can deduce from the videos, is impeccable — all that muscle probably helping too.

Tickets are on sale as of today. I hope it is not sold out. Enjoy.
