Night Splint, Brace & Compression Sleeve Can Definitely Help Alleviate Pain/Discomfort From ‘Plantar Fasciitis’.

by Anura Guruge

All from Amazon.

Plantar Fasciitis is a new affliction over the last few months. Yes, kind of a pain. Recently I have tried using all the above aids & it has definitely helped — along with decent arch supports in my walking shoes.

Just wanted to share this with you in case you too were having issues. These aids are cheap enough. So worth trying. The secret, I have found, is to really lift up the arch.

Best of luck. Let me know how you fare.

‘If You Want to Help Your Community, Start Here’ — Meredith Jones Of ‘Fine Times’

Photo via Rawpixel.

By: Meredith Jones of ‘Fine Times‘.

Being part of a community feels rewarding, but it also involves responsibility. When it comes to stepping up and helping out your neighborhood, there’s no shortage of opportunities. Here are a few steps you can take toward a healthier and happier community.

Teach Children to Think of Others

Raising a new generation of compassionate and service-oriented humans is a great way to support your community.

  • Learn about homelessness throughout the US and take steps to combat it.
  • Be conscientious and respectful about activities like creating care packages.
  • Encourage kids to participate in feeding the hungry in your neighborhood.

Consider Action to Help Animals, Too

Tending to animals is an excellent means of showing compassion to others.

Hats Off To Our Dean Kamen For Helping Out With Coronavirus COVID-19 Relief — This In The Form Of PPEs.

Dean is a GOOD MAN.

I have known of his philanthropic work for decades. Two of my kids have been very involved with his invention/robotics initiatives.

So, I was glad to see that Dean was helping out in these times of need. In this instance he didn’t dig into his very deep pockets. That is OK. He helped in other ways.

I have no worries re. Dean. He will be generous, with money, when he sees fit.

For now just applaud him for what he has done.

9-Year Old ‘Gay’ Boy Asking Help From Pete Buttigieg — What THE HECK Is Happening?

by Anura Guruge

Click to access originals:
the first from the U.K. ‘Daily Mail’ & 2nd ‘New York Post’.

I saw this last night. I was beside myself. It is so, SO, SO WRONG — morally wrong — on so many fronts.

I think Pete did semi-OK, but not great. Yes, it must have been a shock (unless he got a heads-up beforehand). THIS WAS WRONG. This should never have happened. Pete, should have had a BETTER answer.

I am approaching this as a father of 4, three daughters & one son — ranging from 31 to 13. (So, given that I have a 13-year old, it wasn’t that long ago that she was 9).

This is WRONG!

There is no way, in hell, that a 9-year old should be talking about orientation!

NO. NOPE. Not bloody right.

9-years old.

A 9-year old should NOT KNOW about sexual orientation.

What has happened to US.

Plus, his hormones haven’t kicked in — as yet.

He is prepubescent.

I am in shock.

His parents should be talking to Child Services. There is something WRONG here.

OK. You know what I am getting at.

This is WRONG. Bloody wrong.

9-year old. No. No. NO.

Pete, you should have DONE BETTER.

U.S. Chinese Communities Fundraising & Sending Medical Supplies To China To Combat The COVID-19 Virus.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE. Quick search on ‘Google News’.

Never occured to I that Chinese residents, in China, would need AID from outside. Yes, I had heard that they had run out of face masks — but I also knew that 95% of face masks produced in the world must be made in China.

Plus, like you, I watched those videos, in amazement, as China built huge hospitals — to fight the virus — in 10-days.

I had fallen into the trap of thinking that the Chinese Government was omnipotent and had more money and resources than they knew what to do with.

Would appear that this is not exactly the case. I checked base with a couple of Chinese friends, living and working in the U.S. (locally), and heard this:
“We have been busy doing medical relief supply fundraising for hospitals in China.  We have 4th and 5th batch of supplies to out tomorrow to two hospital with 500 surgical gowns and 1200 isolation gowns“.

I was gobsmacked. I had not heard about this at all. I would have thought Governments & Aid Organizations (e.g., WHO, Red Cross) would be doing this. Not individual Chinese citizens living in the U.S.

I am, of course, also impressed and humbled.

1,200 isolation gowns. 500 surgical gowns.

Shipping anything to China, for reasons I can never fathom, is expensive. So, WOW, WOW, WOW.

I wanted to share this with you because I am sure that this is not common knowledge.

I will keep you posted.

Jack’s Driving School‘, out of Deerfield, is the ONLY option offered
in Alton
— i.e., Prospect Mountain High School.

Click to ENLARGE and view here. Note that Prospect at $625 is the highest price quoted. Websites with glaring — and hard-to-miss- typos like this scares me. IF they are that careless how well will they take care of my kids?

I would think they could DONATE slightly more than this given the $625 per student charge. Click to ENLARGE.

Just as I suspected Alton is paying TOP DOLLAR. A FULL $100 cheaper in Manchester.
I did NOT look any further.

$100 to a teenager or even for most adults in NH is a BIG difference.

Until this past Sunday I really was NOT aware that the High Cost of teenage Driver’s Ed (also called Driver Training in this scenario) was precluding teenagers in New Hampshire from getting a driver’s license prior to them turning 18. I just had not run into that situation.

Last Sunday I was talking to a 16 year old and asked him why he did not have a license as yet given that Devanee had been reminding me for a YEAR that she will be getting her license as close to her 16th birthday as possible. Though she only turned 15 in October we are already looking for a car for her (because she is not going to learn to drive in her 1968 MGB).

So I was shocked and saddened when he told me that he (nor his parents) had the money to pay for his Driver’s Ed. and that this was a mandatory prerequisite if you were under 18.

1/ I had not realized that driver’s ed., in New Hampshire, is MANDATORY if you are under 18. No waivers. You can’t just do the $50 online course.

2/ I had not realized that driver’s ed., at $625, is expensive and that the total costs comes close to $700.

3/ I had not realized that there were kids who were being deprived of the chance to drive because they couldn’t afford driver’s ed.

It really shook me up. I know how important it is for people to get a driver’s license. I couldn’t wait till I could get mine.

That price was an impediment really upset me because of the Catch 22. These kids could make money, EASIER, if they had a license and could drive to work.

Well, in the case of this boy, though I had just met him, I fixed the problem. I am going to give him the money for driver’s ed. He can pay me back, interest free, IF and WHEN he can. I will not hold him to it. It is basically a present from I to him.

But that is just one boy. There must be others.

I have been thinking. I am going to TRY and pay for at least two kids a year — not counting my kids. That is the goal. So I will try and pay for another kid in 2016.

But that again isn’t enough.

We need a bigger program. A fund or a scholarship program. We need to try and help kids get their licenses. As it happened I was talking to the ‘Promotions Manager’ at Fidelity, in the Nashua (NH) office, and happened to mention this. I need to follow up.

So just bringing this to your attention. This is not good.
