The French Guillotine Came To Be This Day 225 Years Ago; April 25, 1792.

It predates the French Revolution.

The French version, with the ANGLED blade, was created as their means of delivering humane capital punishment. It was the brainchild of a French doctor, Joseph-Ignace Guillotin — which is how we get that name.

The first to be executed, with a French Guillotine, on April 25, 1792, was a on highwayman, 

‘Pelletier’ is a fairly popular French name in New Hampshire.
