So, I finally did it! I ordered a Canon EOS RP full-frame, mirrorless camera to replace the Sony a7 II (which was also full-frame and mirrorless) that I sold, on eBay, a few weeks ago.

After much soul-searching I had decided that the Canon EOS RP, despite not having In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), is the best camera for I since all the lenses I plan to get have built in Image Stabilization (IS). I like the lenses that Canon has or plan to have over those available by Nikon for the Z6.

Right now I only ordered the RF (i.e., mirrorless mount) 24-105m f/4 L IS USM lens. People rave about it and it fits into my preference for zooms.

I ordered it, as a bundle, from Amazon — the bundle supplied by ‘Cardinal Camera‘. I have bought cameras and lenses from Cardinal in the past with good luck. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I hadn’t actually planned to order today. I was going to wait until mid-week. Then I saw that it wasn’t 2-Day Prime. So, to be on the safe side I pulled the trigger.

The bundle comes with the EOS RP grip and the ‘EF-EOS R’ mount adapter. So, that is quite the deal. Good price.

I am NOT going to get many lenses this time around. At most 4, most likely 3. The next is going to be the affordable and highly-rated RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS.

Note both lenses have ‘IS’. This was the only reason I was able to justify getting the Canon EOS RP.

Evolution & Timing Of The Sony Full-Frame a7 Family — Ahead Of Possible a7 III Announcement Next Week.

by Anura Guruge

The possibility of the Sony FF a7 III being announced at the
March 18 – 21, 2017, “The Photography Show“, in the U.K.
was discussed in this post.

The a7 III intrigues me.

IF it has the same sensor technology as the a6500 then it could be the best of all Worlds in the context of Sony: Full Frame, In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), latest sensor technology and reasonable (i.e., 24 MP) resolution. So, I am waiting to see what happens. Yes, I could tempted to get the a7 II(I) rather than the a6500. I waited this long. {SMILE}

As is my wont, in my scarce spare time I did a quick Excel to compare the a7s and to see their announcement schedule.

No, the a7S nor a7R, in either version, interests me. I could not deal with 42MP!

So here is the Excel spreadsheet.
