Last night I was watching the highlights of Day 1 of an Australia vs. India Test match that I had recorded on Willow last year.
When the first State Farm commercial came on a light bulb went off in my head. I had noticed this, vaguely, with TEN Cricket, and had meant to write about it, but hadn’t because of other distractions and pressures.
TEN Cricket, at least on DISH, of ‘late’ (and I mean the last 6 months) had hardly NO advertisements! Yes, they had their regular commercial breaks but all they showed was plugs for their own programs or DISH commercials. Yes, occasionally a short ad, BUT nothing like what you get with Willow in terms of the (funny but very condescending) State Farm ads, the always compelling XOOM.com ads, MetLife, ‘Indian matrimony‘ and visitor health coverage stuff.
Who did those ads with the cute little baby elephant playing with the kids? I can’t remember. So much for the ‘stickability’ of those Ads!
So that had to be a factor. TEN had to have been suffering financially.
