I have been warning you about this for years. One examples (and click image to access the post on this blog):
I really HOPE I am dead wrong on this!
I am just going by what little I have seen on Facebook over the last 72-hours (and all of it has been in Sinhalese) and my general knowledge of where so many Sri LankanBuddhists stand on this.
This would be a grave humanitarian crisis and another blot in Sri Lanka’s copybook.
What would really make a refugee crisis dire is that Sri Lanka — unlike Myanmar — is an Island. The only way to flee the country is across water. Thinks small boats …
The intolerance by the Buddhists makes me sad. Growing up in Ceylon (the prior name of Sri Lanka) we prided ourselves of being a extremely tolerant multireligious, multiethnic society. Not so any more.
So, I am hoping that my fears will be unfounded.
So, I have given some of YOU a heads up. Of course I will keep you posted.

Yes, ALL the evergreens, viz. The Brigadoons, John Carmichael, Charlie Zahn and Albannach are back ALONG with the Glengarry Bhoys (from 2014 & before) and the Searsons. Click to access the official “NHScot” Website.
Click to access the “Skerryvore” official Website — with samples of their music.
The name “Skerryvore” comes from the name of a reef OFF the Scottish west coast island, Tiree, from which the original band hailed (in 2005).
Not as strident as Scottish groups of the past … but this could be the mellower sound. Easy on the ears. Looking forward to checking them out.
Here are 2 recent YouTubes of Skerryvore.
Tiree is highlighted in yellow. Skerryvore Reef is to the southwest of the island.

Sri Lanka, with its fairly-roundish 25,300 square mile land mass, is believed to be the second country to be provided with this service by Google — New Zealand, another Island nation, having been the first in 2013.
Google will use 3 Helium filled balloons to provide this 3G speed Internet access service. It is, contrary to the initial rumors, NOT going to be FREE after the initial trials! Sri Lankan consumers will have to pay, something, to a local ISP who in turn will have to compensate Google. I guess that makes sense provided Google insists that prices are kept affordable by Sri Lankan standards.
The balloons arrived in Sri Lanka ‘under their own power’! They were floated across from South America. That is neat.
