Yep, this pope actually said that. Capitalism, the “dung of the devil”!

I don’t have to make this stuff up. This pope is the master of putting his flat foot (and yes he is flat footed as you would know IF you read my latest pope book) in his mouth.

Here, check it out in the “New York Time“.

Well, Francis is scheduled to address a joint session of U.S. Congress, on Capitol Hill, in Washington D.C., at 9:20 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2015 during his 6-day, September 22 to 27 visit to the U.S.

John Boehner, a devout Catholic invited him to address Congress, towards the end of 2014. Pope Francis will become the first pope to have done so.

Boehner’s invitation was before the Pope start his all out rampage in 2015 against capitalism and global warming.

Some members of Congress, particularly Republicans, are likely to have issues with what the pope has been saying, of late, about capitalism and global warming. Not sure whether they will want to be ‘seen’ with a man that is bashing an INSTITUTION so near and dear to them. Isn’t calling capitalism the ‘dung of the devil’ what you would expect from an out and out commie? [Talking of which why was Francis taken back when he was presented a Crucifix in the form of a commie hammer and sickle?] So basically Congress will be addressed by a commie! Not sure how that will go down.

This is going to be interesting. Mark the day. Tuesday, September 24, 2015.

I was nearly wetting myself laughing!

blnancyYes, I watched it live. I knew the math and I can do mental arithmetic when I have to. Within 5 minutes of the vote opening, when I saw that we had 20 Republican votes (and I thank all 90 of the enlightened Republicans for finally doing the right and smart thing), I knew the deal was done. I knew that my patron saint, St. Nancy, would deliver AT LEAST 190. So the required 217 was in my sights.

I had to laugh. This was so, so predictable, which is why I had started smiling on October 1.

Yes, I will confess, I was worried Tuesday night when John Orange Skin‘ Boehner dropped the bloody ball BUT I had faith that the grownup Republicans wouldn’t let the country default.

This was so pointless. Yes, I am a political and news junkie. So I follow the nuances of all of this closer than most — plus, as Deanna will point out, I have the time to do so. This was an hiding to nothing.

Yes, I am furious with bloody Obama about the Obamacare fiasco and I will support him being impeached for that. Remember that I am the first person, as far as I know, that contacted a Senator demanding a Congressional Inquiry — and that was on October 2, 2013.

As long as we didn’t breach the debt ceiling that the market was going to be ‘A OK’ — and would recover anything that it had given up. So I opted to stay in (though it did test my resolve a couple of times).

We can now also forget any tapering till September 2014. Mark my word. Fixed income is on fire again.

To add icing to the cake, Cory Booker WON, as we all knew he would. As an ex-Republican I feel bad for the Republicans. I now realize that the U.S. will be under Democratic Presidents for the rest of my life. 2 more years of this one and I will admit that I am bummed with him for his corruption. Then 8 years under Hillary and just even saying that amazes me because I was anti-Clinton for so long. Then 8 years under Booker, who really will be an outstanding President (though I need clarifications as to his orientation). That is 18 years … right? That takes care of me.

Smile … for NOW.

Next year is another year. Yes, we might all want to cash in on January 1, 2014 and wait out the next convulsion. But, I will keep you posted.

President Obama’s 2013 ‘State Of The Union’ Speech. It Was Uplifting. So Many Great Proposals. Bravo. Thank You.

Am I the ONLY one that noticed that this was the first State of the Union in 20 years without Hillary Rodham Clinton? I missed her. As I said recently, I have done a 720° on her and Bill.

Also noticed that that dark, not-good-looking, quite fat, always scowling (as he should) Supreme Court Judge boycotted the event. I am glad. He always spoils the surroundings, he always looks so out of place.

I let Devanee stay up and watch it. I was glad. She is into politics and given that she campaigned for Obama it is only fair that she gets to see him in all his glory and pomp.

The Republicans already lost 2016. Sitting glum, not applauding when the President asks for the minimum wage to be increased or to ensure equal pay for women will not get them many votes. I feel bad for them. Poor John Boehner. He looked pale today, but who wouldn’t sitting next to the irrepressible, Joe Biden. I think he also has something wrong with his legs. He only managed to stand up twice and that was a struggle. He might need leg braces soon.

Loved 98% of what the President proposed. Things are definitely brighter. This was a good night. I was pleased. Devanee was impressed. I have listened to 20 odd (and some extremely odd) State of the Unions. This I think was the best. Bravo Mr. President.
