Cute little camera and ‘little’ really the key word. It is very small and my hands, though bigger than Trump’s, aren’t that big.

Much to my relief came in a sealed box. Korean version! Took me a few minutes to find the MENU option to change the language to English. It is not easy when the menu is in Korean.

It is nice.

Right now I am non-committal about it. Today was a crazy busy day, as will be this week. Which is why I really didn’t want to get a camera this week.

I could only spend 20 minutes with it — and that in poor light.

No convinced that autofocus is what folks cracked it up to be.

It also exposes dark. DARN. The Nikon P900 has been such a delight. I can shoot 99.9% of the time with EV at ‘0’. Not so with the Samsung NX500. Need at least EV +0.3 to get the color that I like.

I am going to evaluate it up until Tuesday of next week, Monday being a holiday. If I don’t like it …

Fuji X-Pro2 — More Strange Problems: AF Points On JPEG, Freezing, Fluorescent Lighting …

So today was the day that Fuji made available the 1st Firmware Update to the X-Pro2 — released just 3 weeks ago.

And I keep on seeing these Forum posts about obscure issues. Yes, I fully understand and appreciate that if you have enough monkeys typing you will eventually get all of Wikipedia written BUT I also believe that there has to be even a small fire if there are so many reports of credible smoke. A few people have claimed that the X-Pro2 freezes (and we are NOT talking about using it in cold weather). That scares me.

To be fair I CANNOT, for the world of me, see the AF Grid Points in the purported image. Others say they can and even have explanations. That scares me.

The whole Fuji X-Pro2 roll out has made me nervous since I WANT to buy the X-T2 as soon as it becomes available. Yes, some of the X-Pro2 fixes will already, I hope, be in the X-T2 Firmware BUT Fuji’s credibility is a bit shot.

Yesterday, at Sandwich Fair, was my first full-day outing with my new Panasonic Lumic DMC (‘Digital Media Camera’) FZ1000. I only got it as of September 29, 2015. So it is still very new to me.

I like it, but I am not sure I love it as yet. It sure can take some stunning pictures effortlessly. I do NOT shoot RAW and rarely if ever even adjust brightness a JPEG picture I shoot. I am very much a ‘What You See Is What I Captured With The Camera’ person. I do not have the temperament, time or patience to play around with image altering software. So what you see here and in 99.99% of the pictures I post are JPEGs that come straight out of the camera. Yes, with the FZ1000 I will monkey around with some of the special effects built-into the camera — in shooting mode, e.g., starburst, sparkling water etc. But that is applied as the picture is taken. That to me is the same as what I used to do, 35 years ago, with Cokin filters.

The FZ1000 can be infuriating to use — at least at the start. There are too many mode-specific MENU options, e.g., HDR, iHDR etc. and just having one finicky control wheel is a pain. I am still coming to terms with what MENU options work with what shooting modes. For example if HDR is on you CANNOT for love or money get the flash to work. I am sure that in time I will get the hang of all the important settings BUT by then, knowing myself, I will probably be ready to move onto another camera.

So here are 7 more pictures from Sandwich Fair.

Sunday, September 20, 2015, 11:45 am performance at the Governor’s Lodge.

John Carmichael, from Giffnock, Glasgow (Scotland), by any measure is indeed the ‘Real McCoy’. He is the epitome of a Scot — a traditional one at that. His authentic Scottish tunes and songs, not to mention his delightful stories, transports you back, magically, to the Banks of Lock Lomond in Scotland. With John you can feel the mist rising from the Loch. It is John Carmichael and ‘The Brigadoons‘ that make sure that the NH Scottish Highland Games lives up to its name.

I have always relished listening to and watching John. He has so much talent and personality. A really, really nice guy too (but, in my experience, that is true with most people from Glasgow). Such a delight and what an entertainer. Devanee and I sat and savored his entire set on Sunday morning and we are so glad we did so. He is magic.

I am so glad that I managed to get these pictures so that YOU can get a feel of this exceptional gentleman. Enjoy.

Well, what I said had to be said. The bundle, indubitably, is good value for money. I would NOT have got it, after all the months of research, if it was not. But you just need to be aware.

So far, so good with the camera. Here are 4 more images from the camera — DRAMATICALLY resized in terms of image size. The originals of these, in V.Fine quality, generate JPEG files as big as 18MG! What I am posting are 317KB! So a huge difference in size and hence quality!
