This year it is very early in the morning —
24 minutes after midnight.

I will be up.

12:24 am Eastern in the USA — 04:24pm GMT.

MY LEAST FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR!

Days start getting shorter — and I hate that.

To I, it means Winter is on the way.

Last Year.

Sunrise At Stonehenge On 2016 Summer Solstice — This Is Magical For Us Pagans.

by Anura Guruge

As a true British pagan — a born again, reformed heathen — I truly miss visiting Stonehenge.

I was lucky in that I started visiting Stonehenge, regularly, starting in 1973 — BEFORE they put the fences up and stopped you from actually communing with the Stones. The first time I visited was when I had my first car — a Triumph 1250. It was also when I had my first dog, ‘Rosseau’, a border collie. He was a puppy. He loved Stonehenge. He lifted his leg up against each and EVERY stone. I remember that so vividly. This little black/white puppy, so small standing up and peeing against each HUGE stone. Those were the days.

Then during 1975 – 1976, living in Hampshire, and working for IBM, ‘we’ got into this habit of visiting Stonehenge on the night of Fullmoon. It was about 2 hours away. We would leave home, after dinner, and get their for midnight. Again we could walk up to the Stones. Suffice to say we were never alone. It was cool.

I HATE the ‘new’, since the 1990s, FENCED in arrangement. A shame. Love it when they let folks interact with the Stones. That is magical.

Rejoice. Today is the SOLSTICE — my least favorite day of the year.

Today, Monday, June 20, 2016, Summer Solstice Full Moon — IS V. SPECIAL; Last One Was In 1967, Next 2062.

by Anura Guruge

June202016fullmoon

A full moon the exact day of the Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice (June 20 to June 22) does NOT happen as often as you think.

Calendars (as I talked about here) do repeat on somewhat of a cycle (typically 28 years). Phases of the moon recur too, on a cyclic basis, roughly on a 19-year basis — though it rather than being exact tends to ‘on or near the same calendar day’. And that is the rub (so to speak). ‘On or near’. That has meant that a Full Moon on the Solstice does not happen, like clockwork, every 19 years.

However, it is also NOT a once in a lifetime event for most of us. More like twice in a lifetime.

So enjoy.

Monday, June 20, 2016 Will See The Latest Sunset & Longest Day For New Hampshire.

Yes, sirree, the 2016 Summer Solstice is indeed on Monday, June 20, 2016.

Hence why it is the longest day of 2016.

But NOTE, however, how the sunset stays at 8:30 pm till July 1, 2016, i.e., 12 days.

The sunrise times start getting later much faster.

In 12 days we would have lost 40 seconds of daylight time.

The Summer Solstice is my LEAST favorite day of the year! For me it is when days start getting shorter — telling me that winter is on the way. It is the only real way of looking at it. SMILE.

Did any of you read this little (and little indeed is the right word) article.

Does it, ANYWHERE, tell you WHO ‘Marty Cornelissen‘ is?

That is it. Simple as that. All I want to know is who is Marty Cornelissen, what are his credentials and how did he come to have all these pictures.

This pathetic article does not tell us anything about Marty.

That is a crime. Anytime you write about a person given a presentation you should state who he is and why is doing the presentation.

This is a joke.

That said, their ‘contributing writer‘, Elizabeth Cantrall, who wrote up the June 20, 2013, Alton Central School Board meeting, is cut from a whole different cloth. She is GOOD. She is very good. I had read one of her pieces before and immediately commented: ‘Wow. This is good. So different to the usual uncooked tripe we get served …‘.

I actually got to meet and talk to Elizabeth Cantrall — mainly because she wanted my name, because I stood up and spoke. She is impressive. Others agree.

Now if we could just get her to cover all the Alton meetings.

But, I doubt that will happen. ‘The Braysider’ does not appear to have too many female writers. Shame.
