Yes, of course, I met him in the main parking lot at Fort Williams during our visit on Friday, May 28, 2021. Of course, I had to go see; of course, I had have a little chat. As soon as he spoke I knew he was Scottish. That to I, an adopted Scot of long standing, was a thrill. He is quite the artist & quite the man. Impressive.

Other than a very-credible self-portrait most of the work he had on display, quite rightly, had to do with Fort Williams & its iconic & historic lighthouse — the oldest in Maine. I liked his work so much that I bought two paintings.

I wanted to bring him to YOUR attention. Check him out. You will NOT be dissapointed.

The Ultimate Federal Government Handout — Free Lighthouses.

by Anura Guruge

From ‘Google News’. Google for more.

Sure beats a $1,400 stimulus check — at least in my case. True, will not be everyone’s cup of tea. But, I would have gladly traded both my stimulus checks for one of these. Wouldn’t you?

Stimulus check.

A lighthouse.

No comparison. But, then again a stimulus checks pays for your upkeep while it would take quite a few stimulus checks, a month, to pay for the upkeep of a lighthouse. I guess that is the catch. Like timeshare. It is the maintenance fees that will cripple ya.

Well, I doubt they will give me a free lighthouse though I know, deep inside, that I am deserving & worthy.

Maybe you might have a better chance. Well, I have given you the heads up. Google.

‘Portland Head Lighthouse’, in ‘Fort Williams’, ‘Cape Elizabeth‘, Maine. Last Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Last picture I took. SMILE.

Second visit to this park in two weeks. I spent about 2-hours on this last visit. Have only scratched the surface so far. Absolutely amazing place. Hard to beat for scenery. Blinking beautiful lighthouse.

I Walking On Water Per My Garmin GPS Track.

by Anura Guruge

Impressive, right? Pretty long walk too. 0.925 miles each way.

OK. OK. I will confess. I knew where the stones were. Well, actually the stones are pretty hard to miss.

I was walking to the rather famous, tourist magnet, ‘Rockland Harbor Breakwater Light‘ across the not-so-narrow breakwater. Not my first time. Done this quite a few times, albeit not in a few years.

The breakwater itself is 4,300’ (0.81 mile) long. It is built from huge slabs of granite hewed off the nearby island of Vinalhaven and transported to Rockland by ferry 1881 to about 1889. They used a total of 730,000 tons. In the 1880s it cost $750,000!

I could be wrong, but it could be the same lighthouse, i.e., Nobska Lighthouse, in Woods HoleMassachusetts.

I get a ‘Nikon Rumors‘ e-mail every night.

It just struck a chord — a funny one at that.

They are both fullframe cameras. So, it is an apples-to-apples comparison. Yes, I appreciate the Nikon one is supposed to be the view through the optical viewfinder. Nonetheless, I think my pictures has richer, warmer colors. {Smile}

Click to ENLARGE. Though many of you know “Bass Harbor” in terms of its iconic lighthouse, the Harbor itself is set back — and in this case the accident was on the ‘Bernard’ side. Created by Anura Guruge.

The New York Couple had been to dinner at “Thurston’s” at Bernard.

We eat at “Thurston’s” too and had done so on September 3, 2017
— just 3-weeks earlier.

Pictures of “Thurston’s” and Bernard Harbor.

No fatalities and not that serious. Driving into a harbor … You would expect that from a New York driver.

He was looking for Route 102. The roads around Bernard are narrow and if there was a fog, at night, it could be tricky.
