Joe Biden ‘Dr. Martin Luther King’ Tribute Breakfast Full Speech — January 21, 2019.

by Anura Guruge

This is the FULL 20-minute speech from C-Span from the MLK Day Tribute Breakfast. This has all the jokes and shows Joe at his best. I wanted to make sure that you got to see it. Definitely worth watching. He is getting old and that is worrying. I hope he runs.

Setting off on the epic, history-altering SALT MARCH in 1930. See my post on March 12, 2017.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi .

I love ‘Mohandas’. Gives me the chills when I hear it.

How the world could do with him TODAY. Ah, the Mahātmā (‘Great Soul‘ in Sanskrit).

He, alas, was before my time — he was tragically assassinated 5.8 years ahead of my birth.

BUT, he is in my TOP-TIER pantheon of personal heroes, alongside: Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King & Obama!

A time to PAUSE, especially today … after Las Vegas!

Alexander Hamilton’s Birthday — Today, January 11: Event Not Marked By A Google Doodle.

Yes, today, January 11th is his birthday. He was born January 11, 1755.

Yes, it is the musical, a runaway success, that has made him truly famous — though he was a Founding Father & the 1st United States Secretary of the Treasury.

There has NEVER been a Google Doodle for Alexander Hamilton. It appears that Google avoids doing political figures — though there have been Google Doodle’s Nelson Mandela & Martin Luther King. I would think they would make an exception when it came to the Founding Fathers and Winston Churchill.

There Has NEVER EVER Been A Google Doodle For Abraham Lincoln!

by Anura Guruge

lincolnbirthdaytoday2016

I did a thorough search, yet again, of Google’s Doodle Archive to make sure. Nothing!

Yes, I know that Google has some policy about avoiding politics and (U.S.) political figures.

But, there have been Google Doodle’s for Martin Luther King DAY (and the key here is that the Doodle is ostensibly to mark the ‘Day’ as opposed to MLK per se), Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi.

Way I see it is IF you can have a Google Doodle for Mandela YOU can have one for Lincoln. They were BOTH presidents — so as such were on the same rung politically to speak of. Only difference is that Nelson wasn’t American. Seems wrong.

I can’t see anybody (even from the Confederate States) objecting to a Google Doodle for Abe.
