It is hard to see because it is brown and blends in with the dried grass. Right in the middle of the picture, to the left of the bright purple thistle.

This was on the North Rim. At the turn-off to the Massacre Cave & Mummy Cave Overlooks. It looked like a BIG insect at first until I got a good look.

Even more of the historic aspect of Canyon de Chelly as opposed to its majestic grandeur.

Yesterday I shared with you the ‘Massacre Cave‘ ruins on the North Rim. This is the cave itself where 115 Navajo, men, women and children, were massacred by the Spanish, in 1805 — with guns.

Just the NAME ‘Massacre Cave‘, on the North Rim, tells you ALL, chillingly. 115 Navajo, men, women and children, were massacred in the caves, by the Spanish, in 1805 — with guns.

These ruins are NOT really a part of that Massacre. They are ruins that are BELOW the cave, on the other side of the Canyon.
