Garmin has had prior iteration of military-grade ‘tactix’ watches. This the 4th generation, with the ‘Delta’ monikor to invoke the famed U.S. Army ‘Delta Force‘, is a Fenix 6X Sapphire with a few very military-oriented features (in addition to conforming to the MIL-STD-810 ruggedness criteria). These being: night vision capability, stealth mode & a kill switch.

Night Vision capability allows the display to be read while wearing night vision goggles. Useful feature.

Stealth Mode disable all wireless signals from the watch to prevent it from being detected. So, if you are doing surveillance or trying to avoid being detected the watch is not going to give your position away.

Kill mode wipes the watches memory so that no one can access the GPS history or any location data. Handy if one falls into the wrong hands.

Other than these the rest of the software features are the same as that available with a Fenix 6X (bar Solar).

Not really meant for your average or normal Garmin users. They should just get a Fenix 6 or 6X — unless they are desperately in need of bragging rights.

You would think Garmin would make this — or sell it — directly for military customers. A bit expensive for your average GI. Maybe they do sell thousands to the military along with Garmin’s GPS technology and this open-market availability is for ‘private contractors’.

Well, I don’t need one of these. Of that I am sure.

Porcupine Fur Native American Headdresses At Plimoth Plantation.

Teischan and I, during our Cape Cod jaunt earlier this month, visited ‘Plimoth Plantation‘ on Friday, August 11, 2017.

These rather cool porcupine fun (as opposed to quill) headdresses were at the ‘Craft Center’, the 2nd stop on your tour after the ‘Wampanoag Village‘ and before the ‘17th Century English Village‘.

There was a disabled Native American, in a wheelchair, from Canada, making these headdresses. Appears that they can only be worn by genuine Native American warriors — and serving in the modern military counts, especially if you are wounded or decorated. So, many of these headdresses are made, for ‘free’, for Native Americans that are serving or have served in the military. Cool. Plimoth Plantation does not charge for the labor, but levies a nominal charge for the material and shipping. Nice program.

Bust Or No Bust, What Would Churchill Make Of Donald Trump?

steve-benena3ad864a-ba41-514d-1740-6b5d3c9c5b10That Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill KG OM CH TD PC DL FRS RA is one of my GREATEST HEROES should not come as a surprise to any regular readers of this blog.

While I am glad that Donald Trump appears to share my admiration for this GREAT MAN, who was half-American (in that his mother was indeed an American), I, who know a fair bit about the demi-god, have some major doubts where he would have thought highly of Trump.

First and foremost Churchill would have HATED the “America First” remarks. Winston SUFFERED manly as a result of such sentiments in the 1030s when Europe was entering WWII and the U.S.A. wanted to remain neutral. Winston visited the U.S. to beg the Americans to change their attitude. That alone would be a huge sticking point between the two. Churchill was BIG on Allied partnerships.

Though Winston was known to be fond of women and greatly enjoy hetrosexual sex, it is well documented that he (despite his enormous power) was NEVER a sexual predator. He, true to his genuine aristocratic roots, was a good British Gentleman who treated women with respect (other than on a few humorous occasions when provoked by upper class ladies). He would not have tolerated Trump’s crudity. He would have found that vulgar.

Winston was also a GREAT scholar and a brilliant writer. He would have been appalled by Trump’s ignorance and lack of knowledge.

Winston also served in the military, in active duty, MULTIPLE times. He would not have been impressed with Trump’s 5 defferements.

And then there is Public Service. Winston served the British public in some capacity ALL his adult life! He would have found it hard to fathom that Trump, until becoming President, had not done any public service.

So, I think, my hero Winston will look down on Trump with disdain.

The words and message were the same BUT I think, at its core, the Edinburgh ‘take it off’ was different, very different, to the bust that was in New Hampshire.

The Edinburgh unveiling was all part of the world famous ‘.and its FRINGE. This was perfect for the FRINGE.

Edinburgh Festival, in August each year, over the years, grew up around the equally famous ‘Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo‘ — NH Highland Games on steroids.

Female toplessness is not really an issue that the lovely Scottish lasses really have an issue with. Toplessness is common in Europe. The only problem in Scotland, really, is the cold! SMILE.
