My post from last month that did mention the ‘Big Boy’ run across the Midwest.

Just some of the ‘Big Boy’ videos now on YouTube. Search on ‘big boy 4014’.

Well I am sure that some of you by now have sussed out that I am a HUGE train buff. I make no secret of it.

One of my favorite U.S. locomotives is, of course, the ‘Big Boy‘. I used to have two of them in N-scale but my son, then young, destroyed one of them. But, I still have the other.

Watching these videos of the restored U.P. ‘Big Boy 4014’ is quite a treat. I wanted to make sure that you knew they were there on YouTube.

Bachmann’s EM-1 2-8-8-4 With ALL The Bells-&-Whistles For N-Scale.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE. You could find this on Bachmann’s Facebook page. I got it via e-mail.

This is quite the engine, at 2-8-8-4, it is even bigger than my beloved ‘Big Boy‘. Plus, now with all of the modern electronics it quite literally comes with all the bells (6 variants) and whistles (16). It will cost $500, but most enthusiasts would deem that a fair price. Will I be getting one. Highly doubt it. I do not have the layout or the right equipment to activate all the bells and whistles. I don’t even use my ‘Big Boy’ — though I just gave it a quick spin when I took this picture. I just wanted to share this new engine with YOU. Enjoy.

‘Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey’ HO-Scale Train Set — If You Are An Avid Collector.

by Anura Guruge

Cute and nostalgic in that ‘Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey‘, at least for now, are gone.

I saw this in an e-mail this morning.

Yes, I was mildly curious in that I am a big fan of ‘The Greatest Show On Earth‘ and like trains and train sets.

But, to be fair this was not compelling even putting aside that it was just in HO scale. My days of HO are long gone. My current layout is N while still have a lot of Z!

They could have done better. No animal wagons and just two passenger cars and the livery isn’t that great. Expensive too — though that could be because it is HO.

Just wanted to share it with you.
