Many in NH may not realize this given that most are accustomed to the ‘January of the following year’ changing of the guard in D.C.

However, in NH, new legislators assume office the SAME year as in which they were elected. So, those that were elected on November 6, 2012, assume office tomorrow, Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in Concord.

The NH rule is: ‘legislators assume office on the first Wednesday in December in even-numbered years, one month and one day after the November elections’. [This is also the case in Maine. 11 other states also have the legislators start in the same year as they were elected.]

The governor, however, viz. Maggie Hassain, isn’t sworn in until 2013, January 3, 2013, to be precise.

Here is a list of those that got elected in NH at the November 6, 2012 election.

Well this person in Alton will have to now wait another 4 years. I guess God would appear to be ‘A-OK’ with ObamaCare.

Alton polling station at Prospect Mountain School around 10:45 am.

In general the Republicans had about 100 signs for each Democrat sign (that had not been stolen), but this little grouping of signs leading to the Alton voting station sure tried to make a stand.

An ultra pro-Obama truck at the Gilford polling station. Made my day. Bravo.

Signs at the Laconia/Gilford border.

Gilford voting station at the Middle School. This was in the afternoon. That is winner, Lisa DiMartino standing to the left of the bright blue sign that bears her name. [Just to the right of center.]

President Barack Obama, Maggie Hassan for Governor, Carol Shea-Porter, Ann Kuster, Lisa DiMartino
(Gilford & Meredith NH House), Andrew Hosmer.

What a day. What a night. Devanee and I were up till past 2:30 am. Devanee wanted to hear Romney’s concession speech … then the Presidents VICTORY speech. It was a great day for Devanee. She spent much of it with Lisa DiMartino campaigning with Lisa and holding up a Maggie Hassan sign. How great for a 12 year old. She feels so connected. Best form of education. We won.

This was me yesterday, with the local, Obama campaign team leader for Gilford, NH and her beautiful ‘golden’, ‘Sasha’. The ‘GOTV‘ — stands for what I have been doing for the last three weeks: ‘Get Out The Vote‘ (GOTV) for Obama.

As for the one that we lost. It isn’t looking too good my friend, and pharmacist, Rich Leonard. That is a shame. Rich is such a wonderful person. He would have made an exceptional Senator.
