I Saw A Fox During My Walk Last Night, 10:55pm.

He had been following me at a distance.

The powerful LED headlight I wear caught its eyes just about when I was leaving our driveway.

They were VIVID green. The eyes of deer are yellow. This was close to the ground. I thought it was a cat. I saw it cross the road. Looked like a cat.

It then followed I! SMILE.

Saw its eyes again. It was much closer. Got him in my headlight.

Took this picture using the Google Pixel 4’s amazing ‘Night Sight‘.

Been quite the Summer: bears, bobcat, deer & now a fox.

Tonight’s Starry, Starry Night Sky, Above My Head, During My 11pm 1-Mile Night Walk.

by Anura Guruge

I am relatively lucky in that light pollution, ‘up here’, in the sticks, isn’t too, too bad.

Tonight was cloudless, moonless & the temp. in the mid-50s (F). Dark black sky. Ideal for the stars to shine.

It was mesmerizing. I just love to just look up, stare & wonder. It is amazing.

Took this with my Google Pixel 4 — using its ‘Night Sight‘. To be honest, I expected it to capture more stars. I tried twice. This was it. This, however, does NOT do justice to what I was able to behold.

I Ordered A Google ‘Pixel 4’ On Thanksgiving Day & Got $300 Off From The Google Store, With 0% APR.

Oh, and I got 0% APR financing for 2-years!

How could I refuse? SMILE.

** ** ** ** **

The Google Store & I go back a long time — back to 2012 when I was one of the first to place a pre-order for the Nexus 7 pad. During the course of the last 7-years we have done much business.

I don’t care what folks say about the new Google Pixel 4. There is no other phone I would buy or own! Yes, I am a BIG fan of Google and Pixel phones. I had reasonably good luck with my Pixel 2 which I treated myself to for Christmas 2017. It was the first smartphone I owned. I used it mainly for the camera and by-and-large I have been reasonably happy with the camera. The Pixel 4 has an even better camera.

I buy Pixel for 2 main reasons: software and hardware! With Pixel, you, by definition, get the latest and greatest version of Android as soon it is released. Lot to be said for that. You also get the monthly security updates. So, there is that: Android software. Then there is also the Pixel camera software with all of its near-magical AI — and can I remind you of the fun I have had with the ‘Night Sight‘. The Pixel 4 camera software is supposedly even better.

Whereas folks are complaining about battery life on the Pixel 4, my experience has been that Google insisted on top-notch h/w components of its camera. You could tell. As some of you know I go through a lot of smartphones. Smartphones tax blacktooth, Wi-Fi and GPS hardware on the phone. The Pixel 2 always performed well.

So, that is why I am getting a Pixel 4.

Google tempted me mightily to get a Pixel 3 or 3a — earlier this year. But, I resisted. I knew I could wait until the new Pixel 4 with its new camera ‘bundle’. I hope I am amply rewarded.

Well, you will, of course, be able to see. SMILE.

P.S., I have been on Google Fi since Day #1 of the Pixel 2. Over the last month we went to the Google Fi GROUP PLAN, with 3 of us, now that they support Samsung phones. Yes, I will continue with Fi. Seems to work OK.

This was 9:41pm, Monday, February 18, 2019 — ahead of the ‘Super Moon‘ on the 19th. The moon was bright and had been all evening/night. I had taken some previous picture too. Pretty impressive. Wanted to share with you. Enjoy.

Given that I was a HUGE Cat Stevens fan I can never look at moonshadow without his song playing in my head. So, I wanted to share that with you too since I am sure that some of you have never had the privilege of getting to know THE Cat. So, here … Enjoy it too.

Same picture. Few minutes later, albeit with my Google Pixel 2’sNight Sight‘ enabled.
Pretty amazing … right?

After
(i.e., NEW APP WITH ‘Night Sight’).

— as I described here.

I have been meaning to show YOU this comparison for a few days. Never had the time. Made a point of taking these two pictures, from the same place to show YOU the difference.

Pretty impressive right? Pretty amazing.

This was taken outside, at 6:19pm, on Halloween — with no street light, and bare minimum ambient light from a house.

It was PITCH BLACK! I kid you NOT.

Nothing but BLACK.

So, all the green, orange, yellow and blue were ‘caught’ by the APP.

This is amazing.

Installing The Google Pixel 3 Camera APP With “Night Sight” On A Pixel 2.

To get ‘Night Sight’ You Need The Pixel 3 Camera APP (CameraP3).

You will get the ‘NIGHT’ button on the P3 APP.

Click image to access the ‘Lifehacker’ article with DETAILED instructions.

The ‘Lifehacker‘ instructions for getting the Google Pixel 3 camera APP (above) WORKS.

I used them. They worked.

Some small modifications you can make, if you so wish. You can get to Chrome’s ‘Advanced Settings’ from phone’s SETTINGS → APPs → Chrome → Advanced. I just found that easier.

It is a BIG download. So, it will take some time. Installation was pretty straightforward and easy. There were no ‘gothchas’.

Enjoy.

Thanks ‘lifehack’. (I hope this APP is safe!)

You need to get Ver. 6.1 of the ‘Camera’ App from Google Play.

I read that this ‘Night Sight‘ feature, from Google Pixel 3, had been made available for the Google Pixel 2, this morning, with a brand new update to the Camera App.

I went and downloaded the App. Yes, it was at 6.1 — which was supposed to be the requisite version.

I waited until it was dark to try it out.

IT IS SCARY.

The last 2 pictures, above, were taken in DARKNESS. I could NOT see the lighthouse or Buzz. I kid you not. The first picture had some reflected light from my PC monitors. No other lights in the room. This is AMAZING.

I am going to try this out further.
