With January 1 On A Wednesday, 2020 Is A Good Year For EARLY Social Security Payments.

You need to be on Social Security to appreciate this. If not this will be of no interest, at all, at all.

Social Security is paid on Wednesdays starting with the 2nd Wednesday of the month — depending on your birthday. See bottom-left in the image. My birthday is on a 4th, so I get paid on the 2nd Wednesday. (Yes, some banks, like mine actually post it early, ready to be spent, on Tuesdays.)

With January 1, 2020 falling on a Wednesday the payment schedule is as good as it gets. It being a Leap Year helps too, though that is, alas, an illusion. SMILE.

Just thought you would like to know. Enjoy. Happy New Year.

Beauty Of Social Security: Payments In Arrears, Medicare Premiums In Advance!

by Anura Guruge

Got this letter from Social Security yesterday and its obvious irony made me smile.

That Social Security pays one month in arrears is legendary. So, the month you are due to start getting ‘Social’ you don’t get paid. You get paid the following month. I think this means that YOU miss out on a month while still alive but your estate will get that month when you die. Nothing you can do.

So, you would think that the same rule would apply to Medicare premiums, i.e., they will collect in arrears to stay lock-step with their payments. No, Siree. They collect premiums one month in advance! Talk about nickel-and-diming folks.

Only in the U.S. of A.

If You Use WordPress ‘WordAds’ Best To Check Your July & August Numbers.

by Anura Guruge

If you are lucky enough to be subscribed to WordPress‘ ‘WordAds‘ and you check your numbers on a regular basis you may have realized that things have been slightly “off kilter” of late — especially the last two months.

Not sure what the full story is. You may have noticed that the August numbers were unusually late — i.e., getting posted a few days into October, when typically they would have posted them by the last day of the following month (i.e., September, in this case).

Well, my August numbers, when they were eventually posted did not look right. Defied logic, math and physics.

So after stewing on it for a couple of days I contacted the WordPress online support — via chat.

Initially they gave me the usual palava about how earnings aren’t directly correlated to ‘ad impressions’. Then they ran out of steam and realized that the waffle wasn’t working.

So they said they would contact their friends at “WordAds”.

Five minutes later they tell me to check my numbers. Wow! A FAIRLY LARGE CHANGE. Wow.

Am I glad that I questioned. No explanation as to why my numbers were hiked on the fly.

SCARY!

My past experience was that “WordAds” paid within days — though they reserve the right to pay you 30-45 days in arrears. Not so this time.

Strange.

Things just seemed to have changed and not for the better.

Hope things go back to normal soon.

I did not request the ‘right to know’ letter shown below containing this incendiary information.

The letter, with the ‘contact information’ blacked out (for obvious reasons), was delivered to our doorstep Saturday morning [along with two, HUGE, frozen venison burgers].

The SAU and ‘those that care’ in Alton know who requested this information. We, for two, thank that person for the continued vigilance.

WOW!

$32,585.08
between just
July 1, 2013 and October 28, 2013.

So that is not even for YTD 2013. So for all we know he could have got paid a similar amount or more for ‘his immaculate, holy presence‘ between January 1, 2013 and July 1, 2013.

That our richly compensated and as such ‘nose in the air’ Superintendent claims that he is ‘unaware’ is quite RICH! If we are paying the architect $273.82 a DAY, shouldn’t the Superintendent, William (‘Bill’) P. Lander, have some idea as to when he visits the school? But, there is a pattern here, with this Superintendent — post 1 & post 2. As you can see from those posts, “I don’t know” or “I can’t do that” are phrases he utters often — which is very incongruous given his bearing — at least towards me and my wife.

Kind of sad. ACS can’t afford a full-time Resource Officer but we can pay $32,585.08 to an architect — BECAUSE from what it says in this letter he gets 8% of ALL Board Approved construction work performed at the school!

Think about that. So all that renovation that was done during the Summer. He got 8% of that though it really didn’t require any architectural input.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
