And one of the responses included this … which is so SPOT ON.

It cracked me up because this really is the case.

I do NOT need any affirmation that my decision to ditch Fuji, after just 2.5 months, was indeed the correct and sensible thing to do. In my old age, with not that many days in front of me, I am not going to put up with ‘things’ that do not do what I want them to do (and to be fair I have been like that most of my life (SMILE)).

But it is interesting that it is NOT just I (given that some, led by my wife, may believe that I am just being my overcritical Virgo self).

Just 2 days ago (albeit after I had started trading in my Fuji lenses) there was the DPReview Fujifilm X-E2s review that said EXACTLY what I had said about autofocus and how AF performance was so dependent on which lens was being used (with some lenses much worse than others).

And now this.

I just want to highlight some points to help YOU if you are interested.

  1. Note that one of the lenses mentioned in the DPReview post is the 35mm. This, in my experience, was a PATHETIC lens when it came to AF. Brilliant outdoors in good light. Take it indoors and you might as well put a paper bag over the camera and shoot through that. The 35mm was THE first lens I traded in.
  2. As you will see in a subsequent response by the ‘original poster’ most of his woes were taking pictures of a dinner party. DITTO. I took some pictures in a restaurant with my Fuji X-E2s and had to, to my intense chagrin, throw them ALL out!
  3. From all I have read the autofocus on the (still preorder) X-T2 is better than that of the X-Pro2 (until they come up with yet another Firmware update for it) — but my fear has been that even the IMPROVED AF will NOT be able to compensate for the pathetic performance of lenses like the 35mm — and that the X-T2 AF will only ‘work’ with the optional, v. expensive GRIP and $2,000 PRO lenses!
  4. Amuses me how some folks get so DEFENSIVE about a brand or a product. I can’t ever see myself being like that. I have come to realize that there are a LOT of people ‘protecting’ Fuji — for whatever reasons — who seem incapable of just admitting that Fuji has focus issues and that folks like I, who demand immaculate focus, should look at OTHER systems.
