Bravo & Kudos Hunter.

YOU have, courageously and convincingly, demonstrated that being a good Republican does not mean you cannot also be decent, honorable, honest & righteous.

THANK YOU, Hunter, for showing that it can be done. I hope Mitt Romney is vacationing in his mansion in Wolfeboro and hears about it. It might inspire him.

Hunter Taylor is an exceptional man, cerebral, learned, committed and caring. I have had the honor of meeting him (and his delightful and equally bright & inspiring wife, Ruth Larson) a few times and have always walked away buoyant and with hope for the future.

Simply (but slightly more crudely put) Hunter Taylor has shown that there is noting that says that being a modern Republican means that you have to be a jerk, a bully, a racist and a blowhard.

Another good day for New Hampshire. Yippee. Two in a row. Wow. Yesterday, we had the ‘Period Poverty‘ bill, spearheaded by a schoolgirl, passed into law.

Things are looking up for New Hampshire.

Thank YOU, Hunter.

You are a MAN, you are THE MAN.

I with Ray Burton.

FBI Director, James Comey (R), Is On A Fixed 10-Year Term, BUT Can Be Removed By President.

Some claims in the media today, in reference to the James Comey, Clinton e-mail server fiasco, that a President can’t fire the FBI Director is patently FALSE. That the usually impeccable Andrea Mitchell would get that wrong on “Meet the Press” (on October 30, 2016) pretty amazing.

Of course a president can remove the FBI Director. Otherwise we could end up in some bad situations.

Ironically and interestingly the ONLY FBI Director to have been fired by a President was by a President Clinton! (That was ‘William S. Sessions’ in July 1993).

Think – Today: Where Does The Expression “Point Blank” Come From?

by Anura Guruge

thinktodaybanner
a4-stickers-paste-professional-portable-targetHow did we get the expression “Point Blank”?

Think first, then research, then THINK again. Think for the pleasure of thinking.

Yesterday’s ‘Think’: James Comey, the FBI Director, according to V.P. Joe Biden (talking on TV, Saturday, October 29, 2016), is a Republican. It was George W. Bush that first appointed him the United States Deputy Attorney General in December 2003. It is, however, true that it was Obama, in September 2013, that made him FBI Director — mainly so that he could get a nomination passed through the Republican Senate.

Think – Today: James Comey, The FBI Director, Republican or Democrat?

by Anura Guruge

220px-comey-fbi-portraitJames Comey, the FBI Director, was very much in the new on October 28, 2016, when 11-days ahead of the General Election he announced that the FBI was reopening the Hillary Clinton e-mail server investigation. Is he a Republican or Democrat? Did that cross your mind?

Yesterday’s ‘Think’: Humans have known that the Earth year was pretty close to 365-days since around 4,000 B.C. The ancient Egyptians determined this 365-day year after carefully observing and noting where ‘Sirius‘, the Dog Star, rose every morning over a very long period of years. They saw a repetition happening most often after 365 days — sometimes 366 days.

Obama Nominating An Indian To Replace Antonin Scalia In The Supreme Court Not A Good Idea This Election Year.

I don’t really have to spell this out, do I? Talk about backing up an oil tanker and pumping high-octane gas (petrol) onto the fires already engulfing this election year politics.

It was one thing to have a black president — though he is AS WHITE as he is black. Another to get one’s head around a 49-year old Indian who could grace the Supreme Court for 30 years.

It would be way too provocative. Inflammatory. Yes, I know that we have a Republican Indian (actually a Sikh married to an ‘American’) Governor, an ex-governor and that Microsoft is now headed by an Indian. But none of that is THE Supreme Court.

So Obama really needs to think this through very carefully and get counsel from Bill Clinton (who as an instinctive touch on these things, though he did get it wrong when it came to Obama).

So I am just putting it out here because as a man of color, I can. Think about it. Not a good idea. That is my only point.

Mike Cryans Sunday evening, Feb. 16, 2014, in Gilford with N.H. Senator Andrew Hosmer.

As any of the links above will amply attest, I was rather fond of Ray Burton and thought very highly of him [and don’t even bother to snigger].

As you can also see I was concerned when Mr. Boothby, of Meredith, who I did know, kind of was making out that he was THE anointed heir to Ray. That just did not sit right with him. Well, I guess I was right on that score.

I had not had the honor of meeting Mike Cryans till ‘this’ [i.e., Sunday] evening. I had done a bit of reading on him and had liked what I had seen.

‘Today’ we got to meet him and chat with at length — in addition to hear him deliver a very eloquent and compelling speech as to his credentials, goals and priorities. We were both very impressed. So much so that three of us signed up to volunteer for him — the third being Devanee, who did quite a bit of campaigning in 2012.

Very nice person. Avid jogger. Puts me to shame. He jogs 10 miles, nearly every day — once jogging for 7.5 years WITHOUT A SINGLE DAYS BREAK. That alone is impressive.

He has a good head and a flawless track-record. Lifelong resident of New Hampshire — bar his College years. He knows this State.

I am sold. He is the right person to fill Ray’s vacancy. I know that Ray would support that statement — as are his siblings! I will do a separate post on that later. Yep, Ray’s siblings have come out to back Mike. I won’t mention names but a renowned NH Republican politician attended this evenings meeting — and stood next to me applauding Mike! That is a good sign.

So there are no caveats. Mike Cryans has OUR full backing and support.

Don’t forget to vote for HIM, MIKE CRYANS, 1st District Executive Councilor on March 11, 2014. [Don’t worry, I will remind. I will even be calling you on the 9th and 10th.]

Lisa DiMartino (D-Gilford) with Mike Cryans and Senator Andrew Hosmer.

Wonder who this is talking with Mike Cryans.

Thanks to Pads, in this case an Asus Android pad, this blog gets about … and looked at with interest.

As I said in my original post I have no skin in this game other than the fact that I have known both Ray Burton and Christopher Boothby, albeit in the case of the later, not of late. Given that I have always liked Ray and thought he was one of those rare, extraordinary people that grace the world, occasionally, I just wanted to point out that in my opinion Boothby in terms of personality was nowhere even close to Ray.

I know that the elector turnout was incredibly low; the weather no doubt a factor. It is possible that Boothby may have done better if more folks made it to the polls. But, he could have actually worked on that — and here I am talking as somebody who ferried folks to/fro to polling stations in Laconia, Gilford, Belmont and Tilton in the 2008 primary, 2008 election as well as that in 2012.

Don’t know anything about Kenney. Doesn’t really matter. Appears that he does have some experience in Concord. That is good. So now for the next step, the real election on March 11, 2014.

I am sure Boothby will run for other office shortly. That is good. I wish him all the best.

The way I see how the two stack up, but I could be wrong … and it all depends on your viewpoint and perspective.
I have no animosity towards Boothby and wish him well in his race. I get a feeling that he could provide us with a few laughs in Concord.

Christopher Boothby Of Meredith Is No Ray Burton, He Might Even Be The Antithesis … But, That Might Not Matter.

I knew Christopher Boothby, in passing, way, way back when I used to bum around in the Meredith Republican ‘inner circle’. I still remember being introduced to him, and it was probably 1998 or 1999, at a gala, very select Meredith Spring ‘rose garden party’ as ‘ … and he is the future of our Republican party’. I also had a couple of rather superficial and in general unsatisfactory dealings with him when he was his overbearing self at Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH). I also knew Ray though I am sure he only knew me: “as that ‘darkie‘ that I see at strange places … but always comes and talks to me”. This post is more about my feelings about Ray, who I think of as a superlative, exemplary human being (despite some of his foibles) than about Bootby per se. To be fair Boothby in his self-serving piece in the Laconia Daily Sun does say, to his credit, that ‘Nobody can replicate Ray’. On that I will agree 100% with Boothby, probably the only thing we can agree upon. As far as I can see, and I am no expert on this and I can be wrong, there are ONLY two things that Ray and Boothby have in common: they are both men (as far as I can tell) and they both claim to be Republicans. Beyond that I cannot see or find any similarities.

In today’s piece Boothby claims that Ray was his mentor. That made me chuckle. Pity that Ray isn’t around for us to ask him. But, given his undisguised ambition I am sure that Boothby would have done anything to ingratiate himself with the ‘great man’ of N.H. politics. Boothby, also in this piece, talks about “Ray’s charm”. Spot on. That indeed was Ray’s undisputed gift. Now it very well could be that Boothby, a good Republican, cringed each and every time he saw me, but when I think of Boothby all that comes to mind is that he would do well to carry a few tubes of maximum strength ‘Preparation H’ in his pockets.

But, to be fair to Boothby, I am as far removed from his base as he would want anybody to be. So everything I say will be considered a positive by his base. I am glad. Lets face it, Ray was a ol’ fashioned Reagan Republican. Boothby is a new fangled Ted Cruz agitator.

The UNACCEPTABLE face of Obamacare in NH -- or lack thereof. She has to go. GROBR.

The UNACCEPTABLE face of Obamacare in NH — or lack thereof. She has to go. GROBR.

Obama’s claim yesterday that there were 21 million hits on the damn, poxed ObamaCare (ACA) Website, healthcare.gov, was another boldface LIE.

He knows it BUT refuses to tell the truth because of the level of fraud and deception involved.

Yes, the Republicans hijacked the Website. That was pretty obvious and the LOGICAL thing for them to do. I do NOT blame them. It was plain to anybody who knew anything about computer systems that this Website was going to be hacked.

So, YOU had build it to perform through the hacks — in particular Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, i.e., flooding the site with BOGUS traffic from automated ‘bots‘, i.e., robotic software. Motherhood and apple pie stuff when designing PROPER, mission-critical applications.

Yes, of course, the GOP PACs paid millions to orchestrate the attacks — which are obviously still going on.

BEST money they have spent in 9 years. At last they are using some brains (though McCain yet again proved that his brain went into retirement 8 years ago when he made that stupid statement about sending Air Force 1 to Silicon Valley to bring programmers back to D.C. — as if today’s systems have to be developed with all the players sitting together).

I estimate that 95% of the traffic is BOGUS.
DoS attacks.
Prove ME WRONG!

Check the posts. I have been right as of DAY 1.

I was the 1st to call for a Congressional Hearing. They are having it tomorrow.

But, they haven’t called ME to ask what they should be asking.

So you will get inane, idiotic questions that mean nothing and uncover even less.

I will do this for FREE. I will help any Member of Congress with the investigation into this CRIME of the CENTURY.

Remember, I have forgotten MORE about designing large, mission-critical systems than most programmers of today have yet managed to learn — and I say that with utmost humility but sincerity.

The BIG picture is well known, and well documented.

President Barack Obama again won New Hampshire, this time by 40,659 votes (5.8%). as a battleground state, and superficially ‘red’, especially if you went by the roadside political signs.

The NH voting was done in terms of 237 ‘towns’; Obama won 142, lost 94 and one, Dixville, was a tie.

Of the 10 NH Counties, Obama won 7, lost 3.

But, here you can see, graphically how each town voted.

Yes, I did this by hand!

Lets start by looking at the map from ‘30,000’ feet to get a feel of the ‘blue’ vs ‘red’ distribution.
