ActiFace“, for Garmin, has been the ONLY watch face I used on my Garmin Fenix 5 Plus over the last year. I like ‘ActiFace’. I had customized it for my preferences and it was just right.

On Thursday, while my Fenix 5 Plus was connected to ‘Garmin Express‘ I out of idle curiosity looked at what new watch faces were available at Connect IQ.

The ‘MagicDust‘ beta caught my eye. As you can see it does have a resemblance to ActiFace.

Downloaded it. No issues. Came up at once.

I have been too busy to sit down and customize it as yet. Appears that it has a TON of settings.

I like it. It has a certain quality and charm to it.

I am going to keep it on and see what I can do with it.

I will keep you posted.

New Version Of ‘ActiFace’ For Garmin Watches, v7.1.4 — Works Best With Small Donation.

by Anura Guruge

Notice the “Donation Setting”.

ActiFace“, for Garmin, my preferred and default watch face on my Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, is at Version 7.1.4 as of October 11, 2014.

The icons have been changed. I think it looks better.

The BIG change, however, is that there is a “DONATION” setting — in Garmin Connect. Unless you ENABLE it YOUR user settings are NOT ACTIVATED. You don’t have to make a donation! You just need to acknowledge that you have seen the “DONATION” setting. I actually DID make a small donation. Only fair. It has to be a lot work. So, I was cool with that. I think we should only consider making a donation.

Here is the New Documentation.

‘ActiFace’ Has Now Become The Default Watch Face On Garmin Fenix 5.

My Garmin Fenix 5 with ActiFace with THIS MORNINGS set-up. I made some changes in the afternoon!

Garmin Connect customization options.

My original plan had been to use ‘GearMin‘ as my preferred, and as such default, Watch Face on my Garmin Fenix 5.

I had ‘GearMin’ on my VivoActive HR. But, at least in my case, the ‘Down Button’ stops working when I use ‘GearMin’. Happened twice and that was enough for me.

I had downloaded ‘ActiFace’ at the same time as ‘GearMin’. I started using it. It has grown on me and I will even confess to liking it — especially after customizing it a few times. The top image shows more or less my current configuration. This afternoon I changed one field — the ‘elevation gained‘ reading. It was redundant. It is always 10x that of floors climbed, since that is Gramin’s criteria for floors climbed; i.e., 10’ change in elevation. So, I changed that to display ‘% of weekly step goal’.

I definitely recommend this watch face. It grows on you. Very capable watch face.

As is my wont and weakness I focus — quite literally — on Devanee, though in this case I did do a few pan-outs and also tried to capture Ben Cookinham, particularly during his solo, because he is Devanee’s boyfriend and I kind of like him (though, of course, the two do not necessarily go hand in hand).

The two videos filmed with my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000.

These were the third set of videos I have shot with this camera, these, the concert the week before, being the first.

I didn’t have the time to set any video-related settings. So these were shot in ‘auto’ mode using the default settings.

These were the FIRST videos I have shot with this camera though I have had the FZ1000, with great success, since September 30, 2015.

I didn’t have the time to set any video-related settings. So these were shot in ‘auto’ mode using the default settings.
