George Pell (b. 1941, 78-years old) was convicted of ‘sodomy’
in December 2018.

He was given a 6-year prison sentence
with 3 years 8 months compulsory (i.e., no-parole).

He has been serving that sentence since at least February 2019 (if not earlier).

This was the outcome was what was his 2nd appeal.

This is HUGE — for the Catholic Church, Pope Francis & Pell.

The Francis always insisted that he was innocent and did not strip him of his title.

Huge black eye for Australia.

There will be ramifications & recriminations.

Is he AGAIN papabile? I don’t think so. But, I could be wrong.

The Next Pope: Cardinal Leonardo Sandri As A Papabile Has 2.75 Strikes Against Him.

by Anura Guruge

Guruge 2020 Papabili Series — #I

Argentinian Cardinal Leonardo Sandri (b. Nov. 1943) is definitely papabile. He was papabile in 2013 and got some early votes.

His standing has gone up since. In July 2018, his good friend, Pope Francis, made him one of the four ‘irregular’ cardinal bishops. That was noteworthy, an indubitable vote of confidence by the pope.

Then in December 2019 his fellow cardinal bishops elected him Vice Dean. They elected Cardinal Battista Re (b. Jan. 1934) as Dean. So, Re is already past 80 and as such will not be able to participate in the next conclave. Thus, it would be Sandri who will be the acting ‘Dean’ (the role that Re had in 2013). Being acting ‘Dean’ is certainly not a negative vis-à-vis being a papabile. Benedict XVI (i.e., Cardinal Ratzinger) was the Dean in 2005 when he was elected pope. As ‘Dean’ the electors can never lose sight of you. You are always there in the conclave — center stage, orchestrating proceedings.

But, Sandri has two definite strikes against him:

  1. He is another Latin American — with Francis having been the first. The electors may feel that two Latin American popes, with very similar outlooks and temperament, back-to-back might be a tad too much, particularly so in that Francis was the first from across the Atlantic. So that is Strike #1.
    .
  2. Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the famous Vatican whistleblower, has explicitly implicated Sandri in the sex abuse mire by stating that he was actively involved in the coverup of the egregious sexual misconducts of the Legionary of Christ founder, Marciel Maciel. That should be Strike #2.

His age could start to become a factor. He is currently 76 and getting older.

Francis & John XXIII were elected at 76 and Benedict XVI at 78. So, he is still ‘good’ but his age could be half-a-strike against him.

Then, there is his friendship with Francis. Francis is not as popular among the electors as had been Benedict XVI or John Paul II. So, this could be a negative, quarter-of-a-strike against him.

He, despite these strikes, remains papabile.

So, do not rule him out as yet.

Pope Francis Says ‘God Speaks Through Children’ BUT Still Does Nothing About Clerical Child Abuse!

by Anura Guruge

Click to access original …

Not for the first time Pope Francis has said ‘God speaks through children’ and received applause from an ever docile audience.

But, what about all the children that have spoken, LOUD, CLEAR & GRAPHICALLY, about all the HORRORS of the abuse they have endured at the hands of Catholic clergy.

Nothing.

Pope continues to do very little. Basically nothing.

Yesterday, was a good case in point.

‘Cardinal’ George Pell’s lost his appeal for being a convicted pedophile. He, a cardinal elector, has now been in prison for 6-months and faces at least another 3+ years. Pope does nothing. Pope claims that HE THINKS he is innocent. Children have spoken. But, he ignores them.

Pope Francis talks out of all side of his mouth.

‘Cardinal George Pell’, Convicted Child Abuser, Still In Prison, In Australia, LOSES His Appeal.

by Anura Guruge

George Pell (b. 1941, 78-years old) was convicted of ‘sodomy’
in December 2018.

He was given a 6-year prison sentence
with 3 years 8 months compulsory (i.e., no-parole).

He has been serving that sentence since at least February 2019 (if not earlier).

So, by a 2-1 decision (by a panel of three-judges) his current conviction was UPHELD, but he was given the option of filing an appeal with the ‘High Court’ — the final court of appeal in Australia.

Earlier in the year Pell had claimed that he WOULD NOT APPEAL if he lost the June 2019 appeal. He has LOST, but, he, of course, can’t be trusted. I am sure there will be another appeal.

But, he REMAINS in prison BUT, the good thing for him, is that the clock is inexorably ticking away. He has now served 6-months of his mandatory sentence. He could seek parole in 3 years and 2 months.

The Vatican and the pope are standing behind him — of, bloody, course.

Stay tuned.

Cardinal George Pell, Convicted Child Abuser, Still In Prison, In Australia, Awaiting Outcome Of Appeal.

George Pell (b. 1941, 77-years old) was convicted of ‘sodomy’
in December 2018.

He was given a 6-year prison sentence.

He has been serving that sentence since at least February 2019 (if not earlier).

Occurred to me this morning that it has been a ‘MONTH’ since the appeal and we have not heard anything. So, I went looking.

Wow, no decision yet — even though the initial prognostications were that we would hear within a fortnight.

So, Pell, still a full cardinal, languishes in prison — supposedly in 23-hour solitary confinement. Must give him plenty of time to contemplate and pray.

Jailed Cardinal George Pell’s Appeal Re. Child Abuse Is Taking Place In Australia Right NOW.

This was an APPEAL, for having conviction completely overturned, that was filed earlier this year.

If he wins this appeal he will be released from prison.

If he loses he will have to finish his 6-year sentence. He will not be asking for it to be reduced.

Godfried Danneels (85), Another Catholic Cardinal Implicated In Child Sex Crimes, Dies.

by Anura Guruge

Google for more.

Click to ENLARGE and read here: Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godfried_Danneels

Theodore McCarrick has to resign his cardinalate and is later defrocked on February 16, 2019.

George Pell is languishing in prison as of February 28, 2019.

And now Godfried Danneels dies.

Slowly, but surely, cardinals heavily implicated in child sex abuse crimes are ‘going away’ permitting the Church to be cleansed — if that is ever going to be possible.

Godfried used to be a good apple. He sacrificed his credibility and reputation to minimize the, inexcusable, crime of child sex abuse. I used to like him. But, that was before his true colors — black as they were — came to light.

As far as I am concerned he can no longer cause more harm.

I somehow doubt that he would make it to heaven because that would be a travesty.

Cardinal George Pell Is Actually In A Prison Cell Now — NOT On Bail.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access this post.

This full-length, 1-hour 8-minute sentencing hearing is worth watching
or, at a minimum, dipping into to get a flavor of the proceedings.

There was some confusion on this yesterday during his sentencing hearing; i.e., whether he would be allowed out, a free man, until his June 2019 appeal hearing. I made sure to double check,

He is in a prison cell. Has been for 15-days now. Two-weeks prior to yesterday’s sentencing hearing. So, he is no longer prancing around, cock-a-hoop. But, there is a chance that he might be able to wriggle free in June after his appeal hearing.

Right now he is on the permanent sex offenders list. Not sure what will happen IF he is acquitted on his appeal.

So, the pope now has the issue of one of his cardinals, an elector no less (i.e., under-80), is actually in a prison — and it is not Castel Sant’Angelo (the Vatican prison in the old days).

Maybe the pope is waiting for June, praying desperately and hoping for a miracle.

But, for now, Cardinal George Pell is actually in prison.

He probably is in isolation. I have to imagine that some red-blooded Australians, in prison, would want to have a word or two with him about his child abuse. Even hardened criminals don’t take kindly to this crime.

George Pell Will Not Be The First Cardinal To Be Imprisoned; But He Will Be First For Sodomy.

by Anura Guruge

This from ‘The Washington Post’. Google for more …

Click image for my December 2018 post.

Cardinals going to prison is nothing new.

During the Middle Ages various imperial powers, or in some instances disgruntled popes, would imprison cardinals that they took a dislike to — often to prevent them voting at conclaves.

Then during the last century we had political imprisonments — mainly by communist countries. One well know example was Chinese Cardinal Ignatius Kung who was imprisoned for over 30-years for dissent. He remained a cardinal throughout.

Then there was also Hungarian Cardinal József Mindszenty. He too spent 8-years in prison — yet again he remained a cardinal throughout.

But, things are different with the dirty old bugger, George Pell. What he has been convicted of is that of sodomizing a child!

He will be the first cardinal to be imprisoned for sodomy.

The mind boggles as to what kind of reception he will receive in an Australian prison. I doubt that Australian prisoners take too kindly to old men who sodomize kids.

He most likely will be forced to resign his cardinalate. He will be the 2nd to do so, after Theodore McCarrick, since 1927.

No cardinalate resignations for 90-years, then 2 in one-year!

Camerlengo Who Have Become Pope. Extremely Rare & Kevin Farrell Will NOT Be The Next Pope.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and read here. From my “The Next Pope 2011” book, which contains a ton of useful information such as this. So, rather than rewrite it, I just grabbed this from page 42. Click on image at the end of this post to access this book.

First & foremost the Next Pope will not be American. You can take it to the bank.

Anybody who thinks that an American cardinal is a papabile is smoking dope, legally or otherwise. Will NOT happen. Pipe dream.

The world does NOT want the Vatican becoming ‘White House East’. That has always been the issue.

Plus, now we have the Sex Abuse Crimes reaching a new crescendo. The U.S. Catholic hierarchy has been totally discredited. The last thing that the other cardinals want is drawing more attention to the the horrendous problems transpiring in the U.S.

Plus, there is also Trump.

Actually, Kevin Farrell strikes out on three counts (at present).

  1. He is American. That is the BIGGEST disqualifier.
    …..
  2. Camerlengos do not often get elected. They are considered the henchman of the previous pope and Francis is not that popular.
    …..
  3. Currently at 71-years of age he is WAY TOO young. The next pope, like the past two, needs to be at least 75.

P.S., I know that the PLURAL of Camerlengo is Camerlenghi. But, not too many other do. So, there was no point using Camerlenghi because it would just mess up those doing a Google on ‘Camerlengos’.

[I know my SEO.]
