From 2-years ago.

I will NOT let winter darkness get the better of I. I will prevail. I will defy the darkness, spit on it.

The Winter Solstice, my FAVORITE DAY of the year, is just over a month away.

Yes, the Revels are nearly here to help herald in the momentous day. Yes, of course we are going. Haven’t missed a Revels in decades.

So, I, with the help of rechargeable batteries, prove to the world that darkness can be kept at Bay.

Let there be LIGHT.

Now that I am on a mission and roll, I am continually adding to my repertoire.

Got a string of eight flame effect lights that we hung on the so called ‘family tree’. Also got some battery-powered LED lights, which can glow white, red or green, for my lamps. So, I can dispense with candles. Yes, I had to order a bunch of rechargeable AAA batteries. The cold kills batteries in days.

Not done yet. The Christmas lights will go up soon.

Let there be LIGHT.

The Avid Sun Worshipper I Am, I Am Waging My Own Personal War Against The Dark.

My new THING for this winter. SCREW the darkness (though the truth be known darkness does not scare me).

It started with the Halloween lights and the flickering solar-powered flame lights we saw in Rockland, Maine in September. I immediately got some and augmented them with an assortment of candles.

Once we get a base of SNOW I will progress to open flame, REAL tiki torches.

But, I am going to fight the darkness.

Let there be LIGHT.

Teischan’s attending a one-week Summer ‘Art Camp’ at ‘Kimball Jenkins‘ in Concord, and rather than coming home after dropping her off, I have opted to spend 6-hours a day in Concord and explore. It has been a blast. Found all sorts of neat places and met some interesting people (as is my wont).

Today, I stopped at the ‘Concord Mart’ at N. Main St., an ‘International Grocery Store‘, to see what they have. Run by a Nepali gentleman. We got talking. I spotted this v. neat prayer wheel he had by his cash register. It was awfully cute. I wanted one. I like solar powered ‘toys’ and this was one of the nicest I have seen.

I got one. SMILE. It wasn’t $1! SMILE.

IF you want one too, let me know. I think I can get YOU one too.
