I will not mince words. I am very impressed with the Fitbit Charge 4. Most accurate Fitbit I have encountered and it was my 5th.
I have worn it for 4-days now, side-by-side, on the same wrist, as my $700 Garmin Fenix 6. Step count on the Fitbit Charge 4 has tracked that of the Fenix pretty well. Within 1%. That is amazing for a Fitbit.
And then GPS. Wow. Am I blown away. You have two GPS tracks above.
I would contend that on the longer walk the Fitbit GPS tracked my path better — with more detail. I walked with the dogs and they drag me from side-to-side of the road — and these are DIRT ROADS in the woods with hardly any traffic. So, crisscrossing is not an issue.
I am humbled. As many of you know, I am a Garmin MAN — and I even own Garmin shares (and have done so for a longtime). Yes, I owned Fitbit too, but that was NOT pretty.
No, I will NOT be wearing the Fitbit Charge 4. SMILE. Slightly too small for my liking. I will be sending it back, with my compliments, to my friends at ‘Heart Rate Monitors USA’ who were kind enough to ship me this for evaluation. Job done. I am pleased. Nice tracker.
This was my 5th Fitbit & I have never had one that tracked so close to a Garmin. SMILE.
Wow. I was amazed and impressed.
This morning I did this SHORT GPS comparison. Today was my ‘day-off’. In terms of exercise I have been on a 3-days ON, 1-day OFF routine for ever. It works for I. I get 6-days of exercise a week with 1-day off. I am cool with that. On my day off I do not do my 4+ walk (in the morning) or my 23-minutes on my exercise bike. Hence, this short walk.
The GPS map track is GOOD. Distance is about the same as that on the Garmin. The time difference is explainable. I can’t turn them both on/off at the same time.
I just checked the step counts for the day. 110-step difference between the two at 7,800 steps. That is good. Very good.
I am impressed. Best Fitbit, in terms of accuracy, yet.
Click to ENLARGE. [Don’t panic. I didn’t die. I took the Fenix 6 off when I showered — the leather strap. SMILE.]

When you are as active as I just one activity tracker, even one as powerful as the Garmin Fenix 6. SMILE.
My friends at HRM USA (and they are good friends, indeed) asked me to checkout the new Fitbit Charge 4. A ‘year ago’ I said “no more Fitbits. I will get wife to check them out. I will only do Garmins“. But, they are very nice. So, I relented.
With Fitbit the first thing I check is STEPS.
I have done just over 4,000 steps since I strapped it to my wrist and I am BLOODY impressed. WOW. Best Fitbit, ever, in terms of step counting. More or less the same as Garmin Fenix 6.
