South Africa Deserved To Be Creamed By India In The 1st Test; Their 2 Fast Bowlers Lack Any Venom.

by Anura Guruge

Rabada & Philander hardly bowled a single venomous bouncer between them in their combined 46-overs. It was pathetic. Rohit Sharma can be susceptible to good bouncers early on. He is a compulsive hooker and puller. So, what did these two clowns do, they just kept on giving him good-length balls.

You are allowed one bouncer per over and it is worth the no-ball to stick another in.

My buddies Andy Roberts and Malcolm Marshall would have been peppering the Indians.

What has happened to cricket? Bloody helmets.

Bouncers are going out of fashion. We saw it in the World Cup and even in the Ashes. Yes, see what happened to Steve Smith. One good bouncer. That is all it takes.

But, how many bouncers did we see. NOT MANY.

Yes, I came of edge, with the West Indies 1976 — 1980s. Bouncers were the stock in trade.

South Africa would have done so much better if they peppered the Indian batsman with at least one bouncer an over.

I am very fond of the South Africans. But, they are driving me to distraction.

They have to reexamine their game and attitude towards it.

Huge Changes To TV Cricket In Australia, With Kerry Packer’s Channel 9 Losing Out.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and read here. From “BBC Sport”. Google “Australia cricket TV” for more …

Despite the timing it is NOT directly related to the ‘ball tampering‘ scandal, THOUGH Steve Smith could end up, ironically, as “Fox Sports” commentator. That is how I got to learn about it. Smith was in New York talking to “Fox Sports”. There is no shame these days.

Channel 9, Kerry Packer’s station, is losing rights to Test Matches after 40-years — bar the 2019 Ashes in England, which was exempt, because it had been previously negotiated.

“Fox Sports” has muscled in.

End of what was a long era.

So much of cricket today, One-Day Internationals in colored clothing and T20, can be traced back to Kerry Packer and his “World Series Cricket” in the late 1970s. I hated Packer for what he did to my beloved cricket at the time. Decades later, when everything was finally patched up, I grudgingly forgave him since he wasn’t all bad. He must be rolling in his grave.

Anywho … Now you know what is happening Down Under.

My New Definition Of ‘Hubris’ — Thanks To The Australian Ball Scratchers.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and study. From Wikipedia — “hubris”.

Hubris‘ is a word that I am fond of, but have hitherto not used often because I was, until now, never sure whether I would nail it, exactly.

Not anymore.

Thanks to the ball tampering, cheating Australian bums, I now have the perfect — spot on — mental imagery for HUBRIS.

“Sudden, unexpected and precipitous downfall caused by brash, overconfidence”. BINGO. Nailed the Australian bums.

These two, captain and vice-captain, behaved, until today, as if they were immortal. Modern day gods immune to the travails of man. Not anymore. They have been sent packing, home, their sorry balls between their legs.

Hubris.

So, join me in remembering hubris in future — white Australian bums and the balls they scratch. Easy enough. Fairly graphic mental picture.

Cheating, Ball-Rubbing, Australians Get Instant Bloody Karma — Loose By 322 Glorious Runs.

by Anura Guruge

This was so good to watch, so good to experience.

Instant bloody KARMA.

Dished out with panache and relish. The cheating Australian bums didn’t know which way to turn. All at sea.

Steve Smith was humiliated as a batsman. Played like a pillock and now we all know that he is a right royal pillock. He should be banned from all cricket for life. He should lose all his endorsements. Cheater, cheater, pants on fire.

Yes, I have made no secret that I am very fond of the South African cricket team. Why? Because they TRULY embody Nelson Mandela’s dream of a rainbow colored South Africa. That team, truly multiracial and multicultural plays as a cohesive unit — race never a factor. That makes me so happy. That is why I root for them.

White Australian Bums — And World Class CHEATERS At That!

by Anura Guruge

I am beyond LIVID.

Bloody Australian CHEATS. Bloody Australian BUMS.

Why?

They didn’t need to cheat. They are a formidable TEAM. This had an element of RACE.

White Australian BUMS cheating so that they can claim to be better than the multicultural South African.

CHEATS. CHEATS. CHEATS.

Bloody Australian BUMS.

I, up until now, liked and supported this Australian team and rooted for them. Never again.

This is NOT the first time they have cheated and who will forget the UNDERARM.

But, this is BEYOND the bloody pale.

Australians should be ashamed. We will not forget — in a hurry.

Steve Smith should be banned from International cricket for LIFE.

Bloody Australian CHEATS. Bloody Australian BUMS.

India’s Winning ODI Series Against Australia After 3rd ODI Win — Leaves Me In Awe & Amazement.

by Anura Guruge

From Cricinfo. Click image to access their portal for this series.

Just two days, after watching the highlights of the Indians winning the 2nd ODI against Australia, I said that ‘they’, i.e., the Indians, looked invincible.

Then, a couple of hours ago, I watched the 3rd ODI. I thought Aaron Finch’s return, and his magnificent 124, had turned the corner for Steve Smith and Australia. Yes, the middle order dissapointed, but 293 wasn’t too bad of a total.

India just cruised to victory. Yes, there was a few tense moments BUT Dhoni hardly had to face a ball. Hardik Pandya is one heck of a cricketer. He is exciting to watch, batting, bowling or fielding. Can you imagine what his nickname will be in dressing rooms in Australia, England and New Zealand. As far as nicknames go it would not be one that is HARD to take!

What a bloody team. I am in AWE. Indians must be SO happy.

Click to access Wikipedia entry for Hardik Pandya.

ICC Should Take Religion Out Of Cricket — Forthwith.

by Anura Guruge

Keep religion God out of cricket Anura Guruge

Watch the start of this YouTube video — 0:39 second mark.

And you will see what I am getting at.

Check YouTube for any and all videos from 2017 involving the Pakistan or Bangladesh teams.

Cricket has a wonderful camaraderie, exemplary behavior on the field and a very precise, and clear ‘Code of Conduct’ that makes sure that it remains THE sport of gentlemen and ladies.

In spirit of the multicultural, multiethnic and MULTIRELIGIOUS nature of cricket — even with the SAME team, e.g., Sri Lanka — we should take religion out of cricket.

I am talking ALL religions. I, as many know, am totally areligious — a reformed, born-again heathen. I have no axe to grind against any religion. I respect those of all religions but prefer if they kept their religion to themselves.

I really do NOT think God or gods play any role in cricket!

IF God chose who wins the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 how come the Israelites didn’t play cricket thousands of years ago.

IF you are an avid cricket fan YOU KNOW what I am talking about — and yes, the above YouTube video spells it all out.

DO NOT get me wrong. I like Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Some of my abiding cricket heroes are from Pakistan … Imran, Zaheer, Intikhab.

IF the truth be known I am very fond of Sarfraz Ahmed. I root for him, always. I am glad they won. They sure played one heck of a match. But, hearing ALL of them, on rote, claim that this was all due to “All mighty …” irks me. When they beat Australia, how do you think Steve Smith felt when he was subjected to that. Same God.

I never believed God picked sides in wars and always found in amusing that both the Allies and the Germans were constantly praying to the same God asking for the other side to be vanquished.

So, that is it ….

Lets just UPDATE our glorious ‘Code of Conduct’ to include that captains and players cannot reference any religions and religious figures during any public appearances.
