wordadssideasdasI just saw the statement for my first week with WordPress.com’s new “WordAds” Ad sharing program. I was impressed and pleased.

From the get-go I could tell that the WordAds format, approach and style was going to be much more compelling and engaging than that of Google’s — and as such prove to be more effective and beneficial to bloggers. That at least based on my first statement would appear to be the case. To me the key word here is ‘engaging’ and that is what you want with a program like this. The Ads have to engage and entice the viewer — and the WordAds sure seem to do that.

Bravo, WordPress.com. You have done it again. You have pulled another winner out of the hat and done so against the might of Google.

I am no stranger to Google’s AdSense for well over a decade but have never done well with it. And before you start saying that it had all to do with my content, let me please remind you that the ‘Popes and Papacy’ blog that does sport AdSense has had over 600,000 views and many days of over 4,000 hits a day. But very few people, if any, were captivated by the Ads — and you can’t just dismiss that by saying that it has to be a reflection of the readership. If the Ads were engaging people will stop and engage.

Google AdSense has now got tired and lethargic. I think that it is so huge that Google just can’t deliver the necessary Ads in time or in a manner that makes sense.

That is where WordPress is excelling. WordAds are quick [i.e., they appear on the blog, ASAP] and ‘easy on the eye’.

I am delighted. I was honored that WordPress let me have WordAds and now I am grateful.

I am a veteran of TypePad, Google Blogger and WordPress FREE blogging (as well as hosted WordPress as in the ‘Popes and Papacy’ blog).

The superiority of WordPress.com over Google Blogger is like cheese and chalk. And here is a supreme irony that many would find hard to credit. Google INDEXES (i.e., recognizes) WordPress.com blog posts quicker than it does those on Blogger! This has been the case for years. Doesn’t make sense.

But, UNTIL the advent of WordAds there was ONE KEY distinction between WordPress.com blogs and Google Blogger blogs. You could have Ads with the later. That is, thankfully, no longer the case. WordAds hasn’t just leveled the ‘Free Blogging’ playing field, it has tipped it, inexorably, in WordPress’ favor.

Bravo. If you, like me, are a WordPress.com blogger – REJOICE. Say ‘Thanks’ to WordPress.com. They are THE Cat’s Meow.

Thank YOU, WordPress.com.

Thank YOU, WordAds.

This is all time … including last year which is when I started posting on this blog.

Of the 200,000+ hits, 165,800 are just from this year.

29,370 just from November 2013.

And to think that some people think that I only get hits from Alton!

But, this is NOT, of course, my only blog.

I own at least 20 … and I am afraid to count.

For the last 19 months this has been my the blog that I spend most time on.

But, my ‘Popes-and-Papacy‘ blog is by far the one that gets most traffic.

That has had 229,803 views for the year.

Since its inception in 2010 it has had 620,179 hits!

And I had a TypePad version of it prior to that … which I deleted one day in a fit of pique.

My ‘Windows 7’ blog, which has been dormant since 2010, has had 194,143 hits.

My ‘Papam’ blog, which I haven’t touched since March this year, is at 187,149.

So lets add it all up:
nhlife = 200,104
Popes-and-Papacy = 620,179
Windows 7 = 194,143
Papam = 187,149

1,201,575

And I have at least 4 other blogs that I could use to
bolster this count.
But, I won’t.

It doesn’t matter.

Has NOT made me rich or famous — as Deanna points out near daily.

But, it amuses me and that is all that matters.

One person, without any help, and without spending a dime on marketing,
1 million hits
spanning popes, Windows 7, astronomy, N.H., Alton, trains, brains,
red wine, restaurants, Poppy Day and sex …
