Uno Pizzeria & Grill’s ‘This, That & The Other Thing Sampler’ Is My Goldilocks Lunch Choice.

I have raved about Uno’s before — especially the Uno’s in Concord, which, in the Summer, tries to have an impressive flower display. I like both the food and the drinks at Uno’s.

It is my favorite place in Concord for a semi-quick meal. If we are truly in a hurry we do Fast Food. If we have more time, I start with Uno.

That was the case on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. We had 40-minutes and we headed to Uno’s. We had been there, for lunch, a few weeks ago also. I had stumbled upon the ‘This, That & The Other Thing Sampler‘ on that visit. This time I went straight to it and ordered exactly what I had ordered the last time, viz., meatballs, chicken bites & the Buffalo chicken quesadilla. For I it is the Goldilocks lunch. Just right. Enough food with a touch of carbs in the quesadilla not to mention the “Windy City Hurricane” that I had. It was good. I can’t say no to anything that has Southern Comfort and pineapple juice.

So, check it out. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

‘110 Grill’, Rochester, New Hampshire — Continues To Impress & Entice (Jan. 18, 2018).

We were impressed the first time we went — in May 2017 (shortly after they opened) — and we were VERY impressed and content the second time we went, last night.

That it has been so long between visits is just a reflection on our rather capricious eating out habits. We eat out fairly often, but we don’t typically make a point of going to a particular place. Last night was the 3rd time we had eaten out this week — and it had been in Concord (NH), Kittery (Maine) & then Rochester. It is more of a function of where we are at …

110 Grill is GOOD. Everything about it is Goldilocks right. Good food, good price, good service, good ambience. What else can you hope for? We really should make an effort to go there more often.

As is always the case, if it is on the menu, we ordered the (Asian) calamari as an appetizer — and looking at my pictures from May 2017 I see we did the same thing, as was to expected, on that visit. It was good. 2nd time I had had calamari in 5-days. If we are on vacation it would not be unusual for us to have calamari both lunch & dinner — every day! We like calamari. Their calamari is good.

I had their Barbados Chai Tea rather than wine. Very compelling. Then the Cuban sandwich sans the bread. Yep. I liked it. Deanna had a steak tip salad. That was good too.

Altogether a great experience. Highly recommended.

We had lunch there on Sunday, May 21, 2017, and I was pleasantly impressed. A very good experience overall. We will definitely be going back and I already signed up for the loyalty program (and am 60% towards my first $10 discount).

Teischan wanted to go to Walmart to get some more craft supplies and since it was such a beautiful day, and we hadn’t done much yesterday, I suggested that we might as well do lunch on the way.

We had seen this ‘grill’ a number of times given that we go to that ‘Walmart Mall‘ or drive past it at least 5 -6 times a month. We were under impression that it had just opened quite recently — like in May. We were wrong. They have been open since December. Wow. I wish I knew. I would have gone in much sooner. Our loss.

It was impressive in every way. Great ambience. Very modern, very pleasing to the eye, spacious and airy. We sat outside on the patio. That was first class and you could not have had a better day.

The service was impeccable! They really try hard.

The menu was good and catered to MY taste. I ordered the ‘Asian Calamari’ and the ‘Tempura Shrimp’. Now we are Calamari connoisseurs and will invariably order it if it is on the menu. This calamari was one of the BEST. It was good. On par, if not better, than the one I have at the ‘Cheesecake Factory‘ in Cambridge, MA when I visit the BostonMuseum of Science‘. The shrimp was also good and put to shame the ones I had recently at ‘Ruby Tuesday‘. We both had the ‘Kale Brussels Salad’ and that was good too.

I had a ‘Jameson Julep‘ given that it was Summer and I was outside. It was ‘OK’ but not to the standard of the ‘Mint Mojitos‘ served at ‘Uno

Actually this place, with all the flowers outside, reminded me, greatly, of the ‘Uno‘ in Concord, NH. That is not a bad thing. I love that Uno.

Initially I thought the prices were a tad rich for Rochester, but looking at the menu again I realize that they are not bad.

They even had live entertainment — starting at 3pm. It was ‘Johnnie James‘ of ‘Sweetrock‘ and he was good. My only gripe, and I made my feelings heard, was that you could not hear him from the patio! They — and it is a franchise — have spent a pretty penny on this place and they have piped music in the patio. But they don’t have a means to relay the live information, from inside, to the patio. So, I had to go inside to listen to Johnnie. That did not amuse me.

I recommend this place — highly. I will let you know when I visit again.

Uno Pizzeria & Grill’s New ‘Whole Hog Burger’ Ideal For Those Of Us With Hearty Appetites — And Like Meat.

by Anura Guruge

DSCF4784

You MUST ENLARGE. Check out the fat dripping off the bacon! Perfection, if you are into that sort of stuff. Yes, I took that picture with my Fuji X-E2s.

Well I have already raved about by Concord, N.H. Uno’s  flowers and the new Mint Mojito the “High Seas Mojito“. Now please let me rave, brazenly, about the “Whole Hog Burger” I had for lunch.

I prodigious appetite is legendary which is why I constantly struggle with my weight. I can eat most people under the table and constantly do. I regularly eat twice, probably three times, as much as others of my stature. Plus, I love meat and adore cheese. So when I saw the “Whole Hog Burger” on the Uno’s menu my eyes lit up and my stomach started growling. It was as if they put it on the menu for I. However, to be honest I was also tempted by the Summer Special “Bourbon BBQ Sampler Platter“. I seriously thought about ordering both but thought the better in case Deanna shouted at me. So I settled on the ‘Hog’.

I didn’t want the fries but I told them to double up on the onions. Yes, I know they are fried BUT in my book fried onion rings count as a vegetable! The thick, solid bun — top & bottom — was put aside, brought home and given to the dogs. They love my low-carb diet because they get the buns from ALL the burgers I eat.

It was GOOD. I gave MOST of the bacon to Deanna. Teischan, surprisingly, didn’t want any. She was busy with her Sliders. Though I go through (at least) 2 pigs a month I have never been a great fan of bacon. I rarely if ever eat bacon, and if I do it is less than 1/2 a strip. I think it is the salt. I don’t like salt. And that is my only criticism of the ‘Hog’. Tad too salty for my liking. But it was good. It was filing. Yes, I could have eaten the Bourbon BBQ Sampler Platter too but that would have just confirmed to all that gluttony is another of my many sins. C’est la vie.

My cholesterol, thanks to the handful of Lipitor that I take (and have taken for 18 years), is fine — and I was celebrating that my blood pressure, for a change, was not in the danger zone. Smile.

Uno Pizzeria & Grill’s New ‘High Seas Mojito’ Is Scrumptious.

by Anura Guruge

In addition to the spectacular display of flowers and the ultra-filling “Whole HOG Burger” (for big eaters like me) this was the OTHER serendipitous find when we stopped by Concord, N.H. Uno’s for lunch on Thursday — after I went to get my eyes tested by Dr. Eugene Baylus of “Capital Vision Center“.

That is one heck of a refreshing, easy-on-the-palate drink. Goes down a treat. This Mint Mojito, if I am not careful, could finally trip me over the edge to becoming a dedicated dipsomaniac. It really is good.

You must try it out. Highly recommended — and what was the last time I recommended a drink, other than, of course, Beaujolais Nouveau?

Enjoy. Cheers.

P.S., I found a RECIPE for YOU.

Uno’s had done a really spectacular job in terms of the flowers they had adorning the restaurant. Really top-notch job. We ate lunch outside (and though it was hot (in the mid 80s)) it really felt good to be surrounded by all this color and beauty. We like Uno’s. Also refer to this post, also from today, for more pictures.
