Do NOT panic! This will not be a daily feature. More than likely this is the last. Yes, I will still do the daily 7 pictures, but not this ‘check out my new camera‘ post. SMILE.

So, what do I think of the Panasonic ZS80. Ambivalent. Cheapest camera I have owned in years — & it feels it. SMILE.

It costs me about $325 & it takes pictures worthy of that price bracket.

Yes, I have NOT spent enough time with it. My fault. I will rectify that.

The user manual for this supposed ‘pocket’, compact ‘point-&-shoot’ weighs three times that of the camera!

Panasonic user manuals are dense & hard to read. Too much auxiliary ornamentation & redundant ‘do-hickeys‘. Very hard to plough through, Shame.

The Very 1st Pictures From My New Panasonic ZS80 — I Got From ‘Cardinal Camera’.

Once I sold my Canon EOS RP in April, I did say that I might get a Panasonic ZS200 as a replacement. Well, I did. But, I haven’t unboxed it yet!

Due to some intense ‘horse-trading’ involving trade-ins & a very unexpected Panasonic $200 rebate on the ZS200, I ended up getting BOTH a ZS200 & ZS80!

Why? ZS200 has the bigger sensor I seek & the ZS80 has a long-zoom I like. Different horses for different courses. Quality vs. reach.

I will use the ‘inexpensive’ (can be banged about) ZS80 on my travels & when I am hiking. With its zoom I will be able to capture the long-shots I so cherish.

The ZS200 will be for more REFINED work. Yes, it will go with me on my travels but I will not lug it around as much.

Anywho, these are my first pictures with the ZS80. As always, with a new camera, I started off in FULL-AUTO mode.

They are OK. I will work on them.

I got both cameras on Tuesday — 5-days ago! With the rush to publish the ‘comet book’ I didn’t get to the cameras till today. Yes, I had tow brand new cameras sitting in their boxes, untouched, for 5-days. That is my life.

Click to ENLARGE and study here. Amazing specs.

That is a LOT of watch for that price. You will also notice that the packaging, icons and even the User Manual look very Garmin. SMILE.

It runs Android. So, Android on your wrist.

Appears it is not waterproof. That is a liability. I am now so used to showering with a smartwatch on … never mind the swimming.

But, I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Worth checking out.

Up until about 1:20 am (Eastern) on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 Amazon was claiming that the Sony a6500 would be RELEASED for shipment that day — for those that have pre-ordered.

But, they soon changed that to:

Ditto at “B&H Photo“.

Printed, Bound & Reasonably Priced Camera Manuals From “Camera-Manuals.com”.

by Anura Guruge

cameramanuals

Click image to access the “camera-manual.com” Website.

Cameras, alas, no longer come with a printed ‘Instruction Manual’. If you are lucky there will be a skimpy, sub-70 page, “Quick Guide”. You are then expected to get by on your own devices by downloading the relevant manuals from the manufacturer’s Website.

I like printed manual that I can have on my lap while I check out the features and the capabilities of the camera. I have tried reading them on laptops or pads and that has never worked for me.

Yes, I can, and I have, printed multiple manuals on my laser printer. That part isn’t that hard. The tediousness and frustrations set in when you are trying to put 400 pages into a 3-ring binder. And a 3-ring binder is not ideal. I much prefer to have bound manuals.

When you go through as many cameras as I do — 7 cameras this year (I think) — printing and ‘filing’ these manuals starts to gt old.

That is when I discovered “camera-manual.com”. They are EXCELLENT and extremely cordial and helpful. They are a British company to boot.

Check them out. You will be pleased and impressed.

They are part of a larger conglomerate: OTCWorld.
