‘Walker’, A Very Nifty, 9-Item, Data Field For ‘Garmin’ Watches, Which Works A Treat On My ‘Venu 2’.

by Anura Guruge

‘Walker’ 9-item data-field. I have it as my 3rd-screen on ‘Walk’.
But, it gives me everything I need.

My other 3 screens for ‘Walk’.
The first two has much of the same data as ‘Walker’ BUT split across 2-screens & I DO NOT get the TOTAL STEPS ALREADY walked — as I do with ‘Walker’. See above, 10,973 (total) vs 10, 260 (this walk) above as well as diagram below.

I check ‘Garmin Connect IQ’ at least once a week to see what new stuff they have for my new ‘Venu 2‘. I was intrigued when I saw this data field. Just what I was looking for.

As you can see from the top picture it is not unusual for me to have 700 steps in the bank (so to speak) before I start my morning walk. Given that I always have to balance my time vs steps I like to know where I stand with my step count FOR THE DAY — not just for a single walk. That way I can allocate my time.

I set this Data Field, by ‘wwarby’, as the 3rd screen — but it is the ONLY screen I now use when I am walking.

Try it out. I am sure you will like it.

I At Last Have My GoTo ‘ActiFace’ Watch Face On My ‘Garmin’ ‘Venu 2’ & It Feels Good.

by Anura Guruge

‘ActiFace’ on my Garmin Venu 2.

‘ActiFace’ at least for now has usurped ‘Logos 3’.

ActiFace on my ‘Enduro’ & ‘Fenix 6’ with Venu 2 with a default watch face.

‘ActiFace’ has been my default Garmin watch face since 2017. I have used it, with pleasure, on all my Garmins. I missed not having it on my ‘new’ Venu 2. I even e-mailed the developer. Well, today it was available. I downloaded it at once. As I knew it would, it looks great with the BRIGHT, AMOLED display.

But, I am faced with a dilemma. I am kind of quite partial to the new Logos 3 ALSO & it, as you can see above, gives me MORE data while being super-readable & easy on the eye. So! I don’t know.

Per “Garmin’s” New VO2 Max. Tracking In The ‘Venu 2’, I Am AS FIT As I Can Be!

I am just going by what Garmin says: “You’ve reached your achievable Fitness Age“.

This is Garmin’s NEW ‘Fitness Age’ metric introduced with the Venu 2 — which has new sensors.

Yes, my ‘VO2 Max’ is 42. I have been at 42 before & have had fitness ages way below this.

What is new here is that it says “I have REACHED“.

I do NOT feel like it. I am sure I can be fitter. I am a great believer that: you can’t be too fit, too thin, too smart or too poor. [I am not rich, so I can’t even comment on the “too rich” adage.]

Well, I am just sharing. OK. Showing OFF. SMILE. Come on. Wouldn’t YOU.

The New Garmin Venu 2: Two 3rd-Party Watch Faces & Customized ‘Walk’ Screens.

by Anura Guruge

The above is the ‘Rails‘ watch face — which I have been favoring all day.

The ‘Data Lover’ watch face — which I am getting quite partial to, but, for now ‘Rails’ is winning.

The ‘Always On’ displays I have chosen with these two watch faces. The ‘Rails‘ ‘hollow time’ on the left. ‘Data Lover’ is more customizable (though ‘Rails’ does give you the option of always having the full watch face on, all the time).

I customized the 4 data screens you get for ‘Walk’. You can ONLY have 4 fields per screen. I would have preferred the 6 that you can get on the Fenix & Enduro.

I customized the 4 data screens you get for ‘Walk‘. I am quite pleased in that I managed to get in everything I absolutely need, i.e., steps, distance (in miles), elapsed time, time-of-day (TOD).

I am not that fussed about the other fields, though I do occasionally look at my heart rate (HR).

Pace is kind of immaterial in that I am always going as fast as I can … as fast as I want. I am NOT going to increase my pace because of the reading.

I picked ‘heading’ because that was about the only pertinent data field left. I have no interest in calories.

‘Elevation’ is kind of nice to have.

I got this new Venu 2, two-days ago, thanks to my good friends at ‘HRM USA‘. SMILE.

Armful Garmin Smartwatches: Venu 2, ENDURO & Fenix 6 Pro (Titanium).

Click to access the ‘HRM USA’ site to check out the Venu 2.

Yes, ALL thanks to my friends at ‘HRM USA‘. SMILE.

The Garmin Venu 2 was new as of yesterday.

Got the Garmin ENDURO 41-days ago.

Have had the Fenix 6 Pro (Titanium) since November 2019! The LONGEST I have ever had Garmin for. It is my backup watch.

This is my total Garmin collection at present. Since 2017 I have owned/tried 14 Garmin smartwatches.

Don’t have space more anymore right now.

Not sure what I will do when the Fenix 7 is introduced — as it surely will be.

So far, I am in awe of the Venu 2, but not sure whether I will keep it.

The ‘Venu 2’ (far right) next to my Garmin ‘Fenix 6 Pro Titanium’ (middle) & Garmin ‘Enduro’ (Titanium).

I am yet again thrilled & GRATEFUL to ‘Heart Rate Monitors USA‘ (HRM USA) for giving me the chance to try out the latest & greatest ‘Garmin‘, the new ‘Venu 2’ with an absolutely gorgeous, very bright (even at the lowest brightness level) AMOLED-display. I haven’t really had a chance to put it through its paces or check its accuracy, but it sure looks & feels spectacular. Nice, ultra-modern feel to it.

I think I am going to like it. Markedly different to the original ‘Venu’ & unlike the ‘Venu SQ’ this one does have a barometric altimeter so that it can count ‘floors climbed’.

I will start testing it in earnest as of tomorrow. I will, of course, keep you posted. That is what I do. SMILE.
