First Morning Of 2021 When Temp. Was At Least 60F When I Set Off For My Morning Walk.

by Anura Guruge

WOW. I couldn’t believe my eyes. 60F. Warm at LONG, LONG last.

The ‘Spring’ of 2021, IF you could really call it as such, has been very cold, windy & chilly. Even YESTERDAY it was in the 40Fs when I set off for my 4- to 5-mile morning hike around 9:45. I have been wearing 4 to 5-layers of clothing. It has been COLD.

So, today, FINALLY, a bit like it is supposed to be.

We have NO GLOBAL WARMING. That is official. Go check the New Hampshire weather archives. We are running COLD. 15F below average last week!

So, please don’t tell me about Global bloody Warming.

I will agree with you 100% that we have Climate Change. No question. But, what we have is GLOBAL COOLING. OK? Any questions?

Lake Winnipesaukee [NH] 2021 Ice-Out: April 4 — 14th Joint Earliest On Record; Even Earlier Than Last Year.

Ice Out 1999 to 2021.

Click to ENLARGE. Ice-out dates since 1999. Last column indicates # days into the year; i.e., days since January 1 of that year.

I take LEAP YEARS into account.
This year was NOT a LEAP YEAR.
So, April 5 this year,
in terms of days since Jan. 1,
is 94. If it had been a Leap Year
it would have been day #95.

Pretty amazing. Even earlier than last year — by two days. Coincidentally, it was again on a Monday. Monday’s, of late, have become a good day for ice-outs.

I had NOT expected this year to be this soon given that it was a COLD winter.

But, I know WHY we got this early date. WINDS. WINDS. WINDS. It has been a WINDY year. Last week we had unusually high winds. That is what broke up the ice.

My ‘Atoll’ 11′ Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board (iSUP) Surpassed Expectations.

A short YouTube video
(with a thumb in the middle).

My 11′ Atoll Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board arrived today.

It was beautifully packaged. Work of art.

It has surpassed my expectations. Very well made. You can feel the quality.

Using a ‘Driftsun High Pressure, High Volume Dual Inflate/Deflate‘ pump I pumped it up to 13psi. It was plenty rigid then. Next time I will go higher.

It was stable. As you can see from the video it was WINDY and this was my first time up on a board in probably 3-years (and I had knee surgery 3-months ago). I still did OK.

I was impressed. I had fun. I think this board and I will become great companions.

Next week is going to be COLD and windy. But, I am sure I can find a day to take it out again. Hopefully it will not be as windy.
